Property Description for 42 West 13th Street, 5F/5G

Welcome to Residence 5FG at 42 West 13th Street - a bespoke Greenwich Village residence that seamlessly unites historic pre-war character with contemporary refinement. Originally two separate apartments, this home has been gut renovated and meticulously architected into an expansive, light-filled two-bedroom layout with timeless design and modern innovation throughout. Designed from the ground up, 5FG features a chef's kitchen, 12'+ ceilings, wide-plank hickory floors, arched windows, custom cabinetry by TDS Woodcraft, high end appliances and fixtures, huge walk-in closet, in-unit washer and dryer, and custom dimmable lighting throughout.
As you enter the home, you are greeted with an impressive great room with ceilings over 12' high and custom arched Anderson windows and glass doors that open to a private balcony. An expansive shoe closet inside the custom walnut door and the push-to-open door to the coat closet behind the seating area by the entry way promises the meticulous details that went into the renovation. Exposed original beams and an architectural column add striking design elements, while wide-plank hickory floors bring warmth and elegance. This versatile great room is equally suited for intimate evenings or stylish entertaining.
The open chef's kitchen that blends beautifully with the living space balances function and style with custom walnut cabinetry by TDS Woodcrafts and a polished Arctic Blue glass tile backsplash. Top-of-the-line appliances include a 30" Sub-Zero refrigerator equipped with an ice maker, a 24" Bertazzoni stove along with a Wolf Professional charcoal filter oven hood, Wolf microwave drawer, and Cove dishwasher. Over 30 square feet of 2-inch thick end-grain walnut butcher block complete a space designed for both everyday ease and elevated hosting.

The primary suite features a spacious walk-in dressing room, thoughtfully laid out with custom shelving, ample hanging space, and integrated lighting. In addition to its generous storage, the dressing room is equipped with LG ThinQ washer & dryer and a dedicated space for a laundry hamper, making it as practical as it is stylish. The thoughtful integration of these features ensures convenience without compromising the room's refined atmosphere.
The master bathroom is a true showpiece, outfitted with Waterworks and Perrin & Rowe fixtures. Toto Neorest toilet adds cutting-edge comfort and technology, while the glass shower wall creates a sleek, airy atmosphere. The bathroom's finishes elevate its character, featuring terrazo tile flooring and handmade crackled terracotta tile walls. A striking blue accent wall provides a bold, yet calming, focal point, balancing the natural tones of the materials with a touch of modern vibrancy.
Together, the dressing room and bathroom form a private sanctuary within the apartment, combining luxury, practicality, and timeless design to elevate everyday living.
On the opposite side of the home, the second bedroom, currently fitted as an office, provides true flexibility - ideal as a guest suite, studio, or media room - thoughtfully separated to enhance privacy and livability.

Additional highlights include a custom walnut wet bar with a Subzero dual-temperature wine fridge, abundant storage throughout, and meticulous attention to detail at every turn.

Greenwich Village | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Birthplace of beatniks, Greenwich Village has always been a neighborhood bursting with creativity, home to artists, poets, musicians and writers. There is a lot of foot traffic in the neighborhood, as it gives convenient access to many other neighborhoods. There are a lot of popular eateries on MacDougal Street and bars on Bleecker Street. The neighborhood has a bit of a college-town feel, due to the presence of NYU. There aren’t large chain stores here, so it isn’t really a mecca for shopaholics, but you can find interesting vintage stores and specialty boutiques.

Available housing is centered on pre-war walk-ups. You can find good deals on the quieter, tree-lined side streets, as opposed to the bustling avenues. There are pockets of brownstones and townhouses, some dating back to the early 19th century, throughout the neighborhood, as well. You will find more luxurious housing in the newer high-rise buildings on Park and Fifth Avenues.

Washington Square Park is the heart of the neighborhood. If you sit near the Arch and close your eyes, you might catch an echo of the music and social history of the Park, floating through the air. Greats like Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, and Paul Simon started their storied careers right here in Greenwich Village. Today, the Village is a celebration of diversity, where everyone is welcome.
