Property Description for 81 Moffat Street

Welcome to 81 Moffat Street, a thoughtfully reimagined two-family townhouse in the heart of Bushwick where soft, airy design and meticulous craftsmanship come together across nearly 55 feet of depth.
Beyond a mosaic terrazzo-tiled vestibule, an original newel post and new custom railing introduce the home's refined character. Wide-plank white-oak floors flow throughout, and arched openings create graceful transitions between spaces. The parlor floor has soaring ceilings that amplify the light and volume of the living area, anchored by a wood burning fireplace that sets a warm tone for the home. A powder room with matching terrazzo floors sits just off the entry, perfectly positioned for guests. Past a rounded archway, the custom walnut kitchen opens to the dining area and features honed Calacatta Bellini marble counters, a Wolf range, Fisher & Paykel refrigerator and dishwasher, and built-in microwave. The entire rear wall folds open with accordion doors, extending the living space to a checkered patio and landscaped garden for effortless indoor-outdoor entertaining. Designer lighting, including sculptural pendants and layered sconces, adds texture and depth throughout.
Upstairs, the top floor of the upper duplex features soaring 12-foot ceilings and three spacious bedrooms, along with two full bathrooms and laundry. The primary suite spans the full width of the house and includes two large closets and a skylit ensuite bath with honed Calacatta Bellini marble floors, a striking double vanity, and a separate wet area with both soaking tub and glass-enclosed shower with built-in niche. A second skylit bathroom serves the two additional bedrooms, and there's a linen closet for added storage. Stairs from this level lead up to a bulkhead with access to the roof.
The finished basement offers high ceilings, a wet bar with wine refrigerator, and a powder room, creating the perfect flexible space for recreation, a home gym, or media area.
On the garden level, a spacious two-bedroom, two-bath apartment mirrors the home's refined aesthetic and includes in-unit laundry and a private entrance, making it an excellent option for guests or rental income.
From its terrazzo entry and arched detailing to its walnut millwork and marble finishes, 81 Moffat Street balances sophistication with warmth-an elevated, design-driven take on classic Brooklyn living.

Bushwick | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

As one of the most diverse neighborhoods in New York, Bushwick offers a perfect snapshot of just how multicultural the city is. Long-established as an amalgam of cultures and ethnicities, a wave of varying types of immigrants trickled in from the seventeenth to twentieth centuries, with Bushwick largely becoming a home to Hispanics of Puerto Rican and Dominican backgrounds by the latter part of the twentieth century.

With the Bushwick Initiative of the mid-00s that aided in revitalization, it became an attractive area to young professionals and artists. And even now, Bushwick has sustained affordable rent prices where other North Brooklyn counterparts, like Williamsburg and Greenpoint, have become more expensive. Priding itself on the weird and the wacky, numerous art collectives thrive in this part of Brooklyn, once famously named the seventh coolest neighborhood in the world by Vogue.

Though it has drawn in many tourists in recent years (there’s even a graffiti tour you can take from the Bushwick Collective), the neighborhood remains very much community-oriented, and has not been subject to quite the same sort of corporate infiltration phenomenon of its nearby Williamsburg environs.

But yes, of course, Bushwick has come a very long way from its 80s and 90s reputation as being “The Well,” a nickname given to it for its free-flowing and widely available amount of drugs (quantity over quality being the cliche applied here).
