Property Description for 47 Madison Street

Nestled on a quiet, tree-lined block where Clinton Hill meets Bed-Stuy, 47 Madison St. is a single-family home that seamlessly blends timeless European elegance with modern luxury. At 22 feet wide, it stands out in both size and presence, distinguished by a striking black facade and oversized windows and includes 6 beds, 5 baths and 2 powder rooms. Set behind a deep front garden, the home offers rare privacy, while a spacious, secluded rear garden completes this idyllic city retreat.
Inside, natural materials including warm wood, stone, and hand-selected Italian marble flows harmoniously throughout, creating an aesthetic that is both refined and inviting. Every detail has been thoughtfully reimagined, from all new energy efficient windows and roof, to upgraded plumbing, electrical, heating, and central air systems. Enter through arched white oak entry doors into a parlor floor that welcomes you with dramatic proportions and timeless finishes. The expansive living room features herringbone white oak flooring and custom built-in cabinetry flanking a stately decorative marble fireplace mantle. Beyond, a generously proportioned formal dining room offers space for entertaining, and includes a custom mirrored bar with abundant storage for all your hosting needs.
At the rear of the home, the windowed chef's kitchen is a true showstopper. Outfitted with a 36-inch Bertazzoni fridge, Miele six-burner cooktop and speed oven, Bertazzoni dishwasher, and custom white oak cabinetry with paneled appliances, the kitchen is as functional as it is beautiful. Marble countertops, brass fixtures, an oversized porcelain farm sink, and a large island with ample seating completes the design. A thoughtfully appointed powder room, clad in wood paneling and featuring a sculptural Calacatta Violetta marble sink, adds convenience and elegance. Through a glass door, the kitchen opens to a bluestone patio that overlooks the expansive rear garden-an ideal setting for dining and entertaining.
The second floor is dedicated entirely to a spacious and multi-functional primary suite. The oversized bedroom features seven floor-to-ceiling windows across three exposures, flooding the space with natural light. A separate office or bonus room/nursery adds versatility, while the showstopping walk-in closet offers extensive custom storage with integrated lighting and a storage island. The spa-like windowed primary bathroom is a serene retreat, featuring a freestanding soaking tub, creamy Zellige tile, an extra-large glass shower, elegant brushed brass Kohler thermostatic fixtures, and a fluted wood double vanity topped with marble. The extra bonus on this floor is a windowed laundry room with full sized LG side-by-side washer and (vented) dryer, a deep sink, and abundant storage. The third and fourth floors offer four generously sized bedrooms-two per level-each with its own ensuite bathroom, custom vanity, and fully built-out custom closet. All bedrooms are notably wide, enhancing the home's sense of space and flexibility. A 2nd laundry closet is conveniently located on the top floor landing.
This magnificent home is completed by a fully finished basement, which includes a half bath. Ideal for a home gym, playroom, or media room. 47 Madison Street is a rare opportunity to own a completely reimagined 22' wide townhouse that combines dramatic architecture and thoughtful design, all in one of Brooklyn's most vibrant neighborhoods. Situated on a quiet one-way street, you will be guaranteed the quiet for which brownstone Brooklyn has become so beloved. And just a stone's throw to the A/C subways at Franklin ave. Don't miss the multitude of award-winning restaurants, grocery stores, cafes, bars and schools all within arm's reach. This is a rare opportunity to own a trophy home with a preponderance of stylish entertaining space living in harmony with a multitude of finely appointed bedrooms where everyone in the family can enjoy privacy beyond their wildest dreams.

Bedford Stuyvesant | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

Known for its historic brownstones and tight-knit enclave, Bed-Stuy has increasingly left behind its early reputation for being a “bedroom community” and transcended into a highly desirable neighborhood.

Distinct for its aesthetic, it is populated with ornate buildings characterized by cornices, friezes, finials, fluting and other marks of classic architecture. Built up during the period from 1870 to 1900, its historic district runs to the north of Jefferson Avenue, to the east of Malcolm X Boulevard and to the west of Tompkins Avenue.

At one point known as “Brooklyn’s Little Harlem,” the shape of the area has shifted toward attracting a wider demographic of people thanks to the influx of bars, restaurants, antique furniture stores and vintage boutiques. More police enforcement paired with the decline of the crack epidemic at the beginning of the 2000s also opened the door for increased development, as well as the occupation of formerly abandoned buildings and spaces.
