Property Description for 12 Beekman Place, 10-D

With a wall of southern windows throughout, Apartment #10D is a beautifully maintained, graciously proportioned one bedroom/one bathroom home. This traditionally inspired residence evokes classic prewar style: substantial crown moldings, detailed baseboards, paneled doors, and rich oak floors. Both the bathroom and kitchen have been recently renovated. The windowed kitchen features abundant wood cabinetry, stainless steel appliances, stone countertops, and tiled backsplash. In addition, there is abundant storage in the seven closets.

Built in 1967, 12 Beekman Place was designed by the prolific Manhattan architect H.I. Feldman. Residents of this full-service cooperative enjoy the services of a full-time door staff and resident manager, on-site parking garage, bike storage, central laundry room, and planted garden patio. Pets, pieds-à-terre ownership, and 65% financing are permitted. With quiet tree-lined streets, Beekman Place retains its reputation as one of the desirable places to live on the East Side of Manhattan.

Beekman Place | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Beekman Place is less of a neighborhood than it is a quiet two-block enclave just north of the United Nations on the far eastern edge of Turtle Bay. There is only one street that runs through the neighborhood, also called Beekman Place, that wraps itself around 49th Street and 51st Street.

This bucolic little stretch of the east side has always been a cherished spot for those fortunate enough to have found refuge here. The noise and the street traffic from the city surrounds is virtually non-existent as there are no through streets in this neighborhood.

The neighborhood composition largely consists of a few clusters of townhouses and prewar co-ops. The exception to the rule is the charming art-deco-styled Beekman Place Hotel at the corner of First Avenue and 49th Street and the two post-war towers, 860 and 870 UN Plaza that front the grounds of the United Nations.
