Property Description for 1375 Dean Street, A

The Elkins House Condominium is truly a one-of-a-kind residential restoration and conversion project in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. Individually Landmarked and on the National Register of Historic Places, this 1850's wood frame villa masterpiece - the first house in Crown Heights and the last remaining of its type - is now the perfect marriage of old and new. The building features four generously-sized, unique duplex units, ranging from 2000 to 2600 square feet with four to five bedrooms and three bathrooms. Each individually tailored unit captures the size, the look, and the feel of a large private townhouse. To enter this exquisite, airy space is to step into the past and the future at the same time. The 2-story, 4-bedroom condo is located in Crown Heights’ oldest home that, until recently, suffered from decades of neglect. After an extensive and meticulous restoration by Komaru Enterprises, this former eyesore has been transformed into a one-of-a-kind treasure that combines pre-Civil War pedigree with a sleek, modern interior and cutting-edge finishes. From the private front porch—perfect for sipping a cold drink with neighbors in the summertime—you’ll step through stunning 9-foot tall french doors into a scene of breathtaking grandeur: an almost impossibly vast living and dining area with soaring 12-foot ceilings. Light fixtures by Artemide and Foscarini and a state-of-the-art gas fireplace provide cozy, glowing warmth, while an exposed-brick wall and original-wood staircase pay homage to the building’s storied past. The adjoining kitchen features crisp Italian cabinetry and state-of-the-art appliances, all centered around a gleaming waterfall island. At the rear of the floor, two large bedrooms take in light from a sunny and spacious private terrace, with room for a full table and a stair to the enormous yard below. Impeccably finished with a stone dining area to the rear and a lawn for playing in the sun and incredible entertaining. Back inside, down the staircase of steel and thick treads made from the building’s original joists, find a huge family room with tall ceilings and plenty of room for lounging, playing, watching TV, etc. Toward the garden, find two more spacious bedrooms. The meandering master boasts a roomy walk-in closet and ensuite bath with double sinks, radiant heated floors, and oversized shower. These rooms open straight out to the a massive yard. Another full bath, abundant closet space, and a bonus room with LG washer and dryer round out the floor. The entire home is equipped with technology to ensure maximum comfort and ease, from central HVAC to a Lutron smart home system to an app-controlled video intercom. And when you must leave this peaceful paradise, you’ll be greeted by the tree-lined streets, bustling shops, and trendy restaurants of Crown Heights—all a short walk away from glorious Prospect Park. Easy access to A, C and 3 trains. www.elkinshouse.com THE COMPLETE OFFERING TERMS ARE IN AN OFFERING PLAN AVAILABLE FROM SPONSOR. FILE NO. CD-160392

Crown Heights | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

Originally known as Crown Hill by the Lenape Indians that lived there, Crown Heights has evolved into a diverse neighborhood, occupied primarily by Hasidic Jews and one of the largest Caribbean populations to be found anywhere outside of the West Indies.

Head over to Nostrand Avenue, one of the main West Indian commercial areas in the neighborhood, which is lined with stores that have been in those exact same places for generations, providing their goods and services to area residents. Kingston Avenue has similar commercial activities that support the Jewish community, and Franklin Avenue shows the most signs of change and gentrification, with an ever-expanding mix of yoga studios, coffee shops, and organic grocery stores that serve the influx of young professionals. No matter which of these areas you visit, you will find an interesting mix of businesses that you wouldn’t normally picture as existing side-by-side. It is all part of the cultural diversity of Crown Heights.

The neighborhood is bisected, from east to west, by Eastern Parkway, which is a beautiful, 3-mile-long boulevard lined with mature trees. This leafy oasis was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, famed designer of Central Park, the Biltmore Estate in North Carolina, and the U. S. Capitol in Washington, D. C.

You will find a mix of low-rise apartment buildings, large middle-class elevator buildings, brownstones, and some luxury buildings. Century-old architecture stands next to modern residential developments in a visually interesting mix of styles, much as the diversity of the residents exists. People who would not normally meet and mix are forging new pathways to cultural understanding by working, living, and playing together in the same neighborhood.
