Property Description for 225 East 57th Street, 16-K

Residence 16K at the highly sought-after, full-service Harridge House is an exquisitely renovated oversized one-bedroom (convertible two bedroom) home. Located on 57th Street between Second and Third Avenues in the coveted K-line, this cooperative residence offers exceptional proportions, renovated interiors, and strong future value. North-facing exposures flood the home with natural light through oversized windows.

A gracious entry foyer, flanked by two extra large closets, opens into an expansive L-shaped living and dining area, ideal for both comfortable daily living and elegant entertaining. The generous layout has custom built-in shelves/media center. In the spacious living room, a dramatic north-facing triple window measuring nearly 10’ wide by 5’ high allows for bountiful light and cityscape views clearing many of the neighboring buildings. A large, separate dining area has its own north-facing oversized window measuring 4’ wide by 5’ high and has its own HVAC unit, offering exceptional flexibility to convert this area to a second bedroom, home office, or den.

The classic, yet modern kitchen offers generous cabinet and counter space and connects seamlessly to both the dining area and to the foyer/living room. It features top of the line appliances, including an integrated Liebherr refrigerator, Fisher & Paykel range and dishwasher, Poetto” California Faucet, and beautiful white slab stone countertops and backsplash.

The king-sized primary bedroom is a pin-drop quiet retreat, generously scaled and filled with light from a large nearly 8’ wide by 5’ high double window. A cavernous walk-in closet provides abundant storage.

The chic, spa-like bathroom is finished in sandstone tile, slab marble shower walls, and California Faucets fixtures, offering a clean, classic aesthetic. The Duravit wall hung vanity and oversized Robern medicine cabinet provide substantial built-in storage, complementing the bathroom’s refined and functional design.

Built in 1963, the Harridge House is an impeccably maintained full-service cooperative that boasts a 24-hour doorman, resident manager, newly renovated hallways, and a striking marble-and-glass lobby with a tranquil Zen garden that connects the north and south buildings. Amenities include a beautifully landscaped rooftop deck with spectacular views, two central laundry rooms, bike storage, and an on-site parking garage with direct building access. Perfectly situated on East 57th Street, the building is very close to Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, and Bloomingdale’s, and public transportation including the 4/5/6, N/R/W, E/F/M, and Q subway lines, as well as multiple crosstown bus routes.

Monthly maintenance includes electricity, heat, gas, and water. The building allows co-purchasing, guarantors, pied-à-terres, and subletting. Sorry, no dogs permitted.

Midtown East | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Midtown West and Midtown East have a lot in common. They’re bustling, iconic, and full of people. But just like siblings, their personalities can be vastly different. Midtown East is a bit more sophisticated and doesn’t quite have the vivacity and unruliness that its westerly counterpart exudes.

Midtown East is bordered by 42nd to the south, 59th Street to the north, 5th Avenue to the west, and 3rd Avenue to the east.

The neighborhood is famous for its high-end stores, tourist attractions, posh hotels (budget ones too), and iconic architecture. Midtown East is also one of the largest financial and business hubs in Manhattan. During normal business hours the sidewalks are full of commuters and people moving from point A to point B. In the early evening, when the masses have left for the day, things suddenly get a little quieter and the sidewalks have a lot less foot traffic.

Although largely a commercial neighborhood, residential areas of Midtown East do exist on the eastern section of the neighborhood.

Grand Central Station is located in Midtown East and like Midtown West, it’s an extremely commutable neighborhood. The 4, 5, 6, 7 and S trains whisk people in and out of the neighborhood 24 hours a day. Grand Central Station also serves as a hub for New York State and Connecticut commuter rails. These trains can take you anywhere along the Hudson River or up into Connecticut. It’s perfect for day tripping.
