Property Description for 555 West 23rd Street, S-12C

Here's your opportunity to live in one of the few fully renovated 1BR apartments in 555 W 23 St. On the 12th floor of one of the first new buildings to go up on the Hi-Line, this exceptional 1BR apartment faces north overlooking the wonderful residents' only garden, views all the way to the Empire State & Hudson Yards. At just over 700', this apartment has been tastefully redone to fit anyone's expectations of Chelsea living. There's a very generously proportioned island kitchen with high-end appliances like a Blomberg refrigerator/freezer, a Miele stove/microwave & D/W, & an in-unit Samsung W/D. Being on one of the highest floors in the South Tower bathes the apartment with terrific light & plenty of sky views, and since the apartment is completely isolated from any street noise, residents can sleep with the windows open. There are 2 thru-wall PTAC units to keep things cool or warm, depending upon the season. Further enhancing the privacy, the apartment is situated at the end of the hall, so there's no neighboring unit adjoining the bedroom. The building has one of the best gyms in the city, the 24 hr staff are truly top-shelf with some working there since the building opened, & there's a sense of community among the residents. The building has entrances on both 23rd & 24th Sts, there's a valet, an onsite garage (subject to availability & at a separate cost). No pets please. Additional application fees & deposits; $650 application processing fee, $650 move-in fee, $1,000 move-in deposit (refundable), $1,000 move-out deposit (refundable), $75/applicant consumer report fee, $500 expedited application review fee (optional). Available early April.

Quick Profile

The row houses portray the world-class architecture of Greek Revival, Italianate and Georgian styles. The population is both ethnically and socially diverse, which is reflected in the restaurants and retail businesses in the neighborhood.

Western Chelsea is the center of the NYC art world, where you will find more than 200 art galleries housed in rehabbed factories and warehouses, as well as in newly-constructed buildings.

While people of many different cultures call Chelsea home, it has been a mecca over the years for people in the LGBTQ community. One census reported that as many as 22% of its residents were gay couples. Eighth Avenue is a trendy area for LGBTQ-oriented dining and shopping. Although it no longer draws the LGBTQ population that it once did, Chelsea still has many popular alternative bars.

Chelsea is primarily residential, consisting of a mixture of diverse complexes, low-rise apartment blocks, tenements, townhouses, renovated row houses, and luxury high-rises.

Chelsea is an interesting and sought-after place to live, with unique clothing boutiques, restaurants, and delis representing cultures from around the world. In addition to its quirky establishments, Chelsea has fine dining restaurants and a vibrant, hip nightlife, which adds to its allure.

Chelsea is well-served by public transportation. At least six city bus routes traverse Chelsea. There are three NYC subway routes with stops on Seventh Avenue, three on Eighth Avenue, and two more on Sixth Avenue. The 34th Street - Hudson Yards Station opened in 2015 with its main entrance in Chelsea.
