Property Description for 374 Monroe Street, 1

This charming, fully furnished duplex brownstone home spans multiple levels and includes a rare, oversized private backyard, making it a standout opportunity in the heart of Bed-Stuy. Offering two generously sized bedrooms, each with private en-suite bathrooms, plus a third full bath, the home provides exceptional comfort, privacy, and flexibility. The layout is generous and thoughtfully designed. The ground floor features open living, dining, and kitchen spaces that flow directly into the lush private garden, perfect for morning coffee, relaxed dinners, or cozy evenings outdoors. The space feels warm and lived-in, with character and soul rather than a cookie-cutter luxury aesthetic. The parlor level offers two spacious bedrooms, each with its own en-suite bathroom. One bedroom is configured with a king bed and en-suite bath. The second features a queen bed, en-suite bath, and a dedicated workstation with an adjustable standing desk and monitor, ideal for remote work or creative pursuits. A third full bathroom adds even more convenience and flexibility to the home. Design-wise, the apartment leans mid-century modern, layered with vintage lighting, greenery, and art collected from travels around the world. It feels intentional, comfortable, and inviting, offering a true home base rather than a temporary stop. The apartment is being offered fully furnished and is move-in ready, with in-unit laundry, a dishwasher, high-speed WiFi, air conditioning, radiator heat, and an on-site super who handles trash and entry maintenance. Located on a classic Bed-Stuy brownstone block with a strong sense of community, the home is close to cafés, neighborhood favorites, and convenient transit. Available for a six-month lease, with flexibility for the right fit and the possibility of a longer term. Ideal for those seeking a furnished rental with space, outdoor access, and authentic Brooklyn character. Small, well-trained dogs may be considered. No cats.

Quick Profile

Known for its historic brownstones and tight-knit enclave, Bed-Stuy has increasingly left behind its early reputation for being a “bedroom community” and transcended into a highly desirable neighborhood.

Distinct for its aesthetic, it is populated with ornate buildings characterized by cornices, friezes, finials, fluting and other marks of classic architecture. Built up during the period from 1870 to 1900, its historic district runs to the north of Jefferson Avenue, to the east of Malcolm X Boulevard and to the west of Tompkins Avenue.

At one point known as “Brooklyn’s Little Harlem,” the shape of the area has shifted toward attracting a wider demographic of people thanks to the influx of bars, restaurants, antique furniture stores and vintage boutiques. More police enforcement paired with the decline of the crack epidemic at the beginning of the 2000s also opened the door for increased development, as well as the occupation of formerly abandoned buildings and spaces.
