Property Description for 237 West 15th Street, 2-C

Secret Garden in Chelsea - Discover This Enchanted Carriage House Apartment!

Tucked away behind a quiet row of brownstones, this hidden gem on West 15th Street invites you to step through a lush garden courtyard and up one flight to your private retreat. Originally built in 1905, this historic carriage house evokes the charm of old New York, when horses and carriages filled the cobblestone streets.

The apartment features original hardwood floors, a windowed kitchen with new appliances and smart design, and an elegant, windowed bathroom. Sunlight pours in through south-facing windows that overlook the serene internal garden, creating a bright and welcoming ambiance. Both bedrooms are exceptionally quiet and comfortably fit queen-sized beds. The flexible layout allows for multiple configurations - two bedrooms, a one-bedroom with a home office, or a one-bedroom with separate living and dining areas - perfectly tailored to your lifestyle .

237 West 15th Street is a boutique, liberal co-op that welcomes co-purchasing, gifting, guarantors, and parents buying for children. The building also allows unlimited subletting after the first year of ownership, offering flexibility rarely found in Chelsea. Additional amenities include a part-time super, caged storage space and laundry in the basement.

Perfectly situated where Chelsea, the West Village, and the Meatpacking District meet, you'll enjoy effortless access to all major subway lines, the High Line, and some of New York City's best restaurants, shops, and galleries. More than just an apartment, this is your own secret garden - a peaceful escape nestled in one of Manhattan's most vibrant neighborhoods.

Chelsea | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The row houses portray the world-class architecture of Greek Revival, Italianate and Georgian styles. The population is both ethnically and socially diverse, which is reflected in the restaurants and retail businesses in the neighborhood.

Western Chelsea is the center of the NYC art world, where you will find more than 200 art galleries housed in rehabbed factories and warehouses, as well as in newly-constructed buildings.

While people of many different cultures call Chelsea home, it has been a mecca over the years for people in the LGBTQ community. One census reported that as many as 22% of its residents were gay couples. Eighth Avenue is a trendy area for LGBTQ-oriented dining and shopping. Although it no longer draws the LGBTQ population that it once did, Chelsea still has many popular alternative bars.

Chelsea is primarily residential, consisting of a mixture of diverse complexes, low-rise apartment blocks, tenements, townhouses, renovated row houses, and luxury high-rises.

Chelsea is an interesting and sought-after place to live, with unique clothing boutiques, restaurants, and delis representing cultures from around the world. In addition to its quirky establishments, Chelsea has fine dining restaurants and a vibrant, hip nightlife, which adds to its allure.

Chelsea is well-served by public transportation. At least six city bus routes traverse Chelsea. There are three NYC subway routes with stops on Seventh Avenue, three on Eighth Avenue, and two more on Sixth Avenue. The 34th Street - Hudson Yards Station opened in 2015 with its main entrance in Chelsea.
