Property Description for 80 Chambers Street, 9-A

Tribeca loft proportions meet full-service amenities in this sun-drenched three-bedroom, two-bathroom condominium featuring an expansive open-plan layout, sleek modern finishes, and breathtaking City Hall views in the heart of Downtown.

Inside this nearly 2,000-square-foot home, 10-foot-tall beamed ceilings soar above wide-plank hardwood floors and 20 oversized windows on the northern, eastern and southern exposures. A windowed foyer flanked by two huge closets welcomes you into the massive corner living room, where dramatic views skim across City Hall Park to the David Dinkins Municipal Building, the Brooklyn Bridge and Frank Gehry's 8 Spruce. Plan your next dinner party in the adjacent formal dining area and enjoy an open gourmet kitchen with floor-to-ceiling custom cabinetry, a massive waterfall island/breakfast bar and swaths of quartz. A fleet of stainless steel appliances, including a Wolf range, Sub-Zero refrigerator and Bosch dishwasher, makes cooking a joy.

Head to the oversized owner's suite to enjoy a king-size layout, a huge custom walk-in closet and an en suite bathroom with a double vanity, tub/shower and floor-to-ceiling tile. Off the dining room, a pocket door reveals a corner bedroom that's equally ideal as a home office or media lounge. Another secondary bedroom, full guest bathroom and in-unit washer-dryer complete this sun-kissed Tribeca sanctuary.

Tower 270 is a 1930s office building converted to luxury condominium use in 2002. In 1942, the 18th floor of the building was home to the Army Corps of Engineers' division that oversaw the country's burgeoning nuclear program, making this the birthplace of "The Manhattan Project." Today, residents of the pet-friendly building are spoiled by top-notch amenities, including full-time doorman and live-in superintendent, a contemporary lobby, three high-speed elevator banks, laundry and individual storage units on every floor, three fitness rooms, a children's playroom, a teen media room, a conference room, and a glorious planted roof deck with spectacular views.

Situated directly across from City Hall Park, this location offers the ideal mix of Downtown allure and open green space. Washington Market Park and the Battery Park City Esplanade are within easy reach, and the Tribeca Whole Foods is just three blocks away. With easy access to Westfield World Trade, Brookfield Place and the revitalized Seaport District, you're truly at the center of some of the best New York City has to offer. Transportation from this highly accessible neighborhood can't be beat with R/W, A/C/E, 1/2/3, 4/5/6, J/Z and PATH trains, excellent bus service and CitiBikes all nearby.

Quick Profile

TriBeCa, named after the small geographic triangle below Canal Street. It’s not really a triangle, it's a quadrilateral and it's bounded by West Street, Broadway, and Chambers Street. It’s a little too late for a name change and besides, QuaBeCa doesn't sound half as cool as Tribeca.

One of New York City’s more notable acronymed neighborhoods, TriBeCa is known for its trendy boutiques, fabolous restaurants, historical landmarks, and resident celebrity lofts. It still holds the title of one of the coolest places to live in New York City.

TriBeCa is one of the first residential neighborhoods of New York City. Way back in 1700’s wealthy New Yorkers built homes and maintained gardens in what is now TriBeca.

Later in history it shifted from residential to warehouses, commerce and markets. After the Civil War, shipping hubs moved from the East River to the Hudson River and revitalized areas like the South Street Seaport and TriBeca. When shipping and commerce increased, the area soon became a favorite spot for wholesalers to store their goods in large industrial warehouses.

Just like its neighbor SoHo, TriBeCa boasts one of the world’s largest collections of wrought-iron facades and Neo-Grecian architecture.
