Property Description for 398 Putnam Ave

Welcome to 398 Putnam Avenue, a meticulously restored and fully renovated Brooklyn brownstone where classic architecture meets modern luxury. This brand-new two-family residence has been thoughtfully reimagined from top to bottom, blending timeless craftsmanship with sophisticated contemporary finishes. From the striking facade to the carefully curated interiors, every detail has been executed with precision, creating a turnkey home that offers both refined living and exceptional versatility. Inside, the parlor level sets the tone with stunning herringbone oak floors, soaring ceilings, and beautifully restored working wood-burning fireplaces that anchor the living and dining spaces with warmth and character. Exposed brick accents and elegant millwork complement the home’s original proportions, while marble window sills and custom window treatments enhance the home's polished feel throughout. At the heart of the home is a show-stopping chef’s kitchen, featuring custom cabinetry, Taj Mahal marble surfaces, a sculptural statement hood, and premium appliances, including an oversized refrigerator designed for both everyday functionality and entertaining. Solar panels have been installed to support energy efficiency, covering most of the energy consumption for the owner’s unit. Upstairs, the private quarters offer exceptional comfort and luxury, highlighted by a truly remarkable primary suite designed as a personal retreat. The suite features a spacious walk-in dressing room lined with custom built-ins, leading to a spa-caliber en-suite bath adorned with marble finishes, dual vanities, a glass-enclosed rain shower, and a sculptural soaking tub positioned beneath sunlit windows. Additional bedrooms and baths are equally refined, with carefully selected finishes and abundant natural light throughout. On the garden level, a fully finished two-bedroom rental apartment provides outstanding flexibility ideal for income generation, guest accommodations, or extended living, while the landscaped backyard, planted along the entire perimeter, creates a private outdoor oasis. Located on a picturesque tree-lined block in Bedford-Stuyvesant, 398 Putnam Avenue offers the perfect balance of neighborhood charm and city convenience. Surrounded by beloved cafés, restaurants, and local favorites, and within easy reach of nearby parks and multiple transportation options, the home places you at the center of one of Brooklyn’s most vibrant and evolving communities. Bedford Stuyvesant | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

Known for its historic brownstones and tight-knit enclave, Bed-Stuy has increasingly left behind its early reputation for being a “bedroom community” and transcended into a highly desirable neighborhood.

Distinct for its aesthetic, it is populated with ornate buildings characterized by cornices, friezes, finials, fluting and other marks of classic architecture. Built up during the period from 1870 to 1900, its historic district runs to the north of Jefferson Avenue, to the east of Malcolm X Boulevard and to the west of Tompkins Avenue.

At one point known as “Brooklyn’s Little Harlem,” the shape of the area has shifted toward attracting a wider demographic of people thanks to the influx of bars, restaurants, antique furniture stores and vintage boutiques. More police enforcement paired with the decline of the crack epidemic at the beginning of the 2000s also opened the door for increased development, as well as the occupation of formerly abandoned buildings and spaces.
