Glorious views envelop this feel-good, dramatic home, making its already expansive layout all the more grand, gorgeous, and striking. Since the building was created, this particular residence has been celebrated and treasured for its trophy position, its flexible plan, and its big views of the river, skyline and bridge. At choice level, this jumbo home uniquely offers the perfect vantage point for sunshine, treetops, sky, and water.

Downstairs, this home's signature wall of windows enliven the big lofty great room. Above, ceilings are high, underfoot are freshly re-furbished hardwoods, and all around you is expansive, easy-living goodness. The jumbo living room is open to the big dining area, and all is served by a refreshed, resplendent open-plan kitchen with sizable dining bar, stone counters, ample re-done cabinets, and a suite of top shelf appliances. There are new, through-wall AC/heat units (PTEC), and a full downstairs bath and great storage.

Up the gorgeous, gently curving stairway is one of the larger bedroom suites in Manhattan. Graced by its own wall of river-view winows, this mega-room offers the ultimate in luxe space with dramatic views. Sunshiny and stupendous, this king-sized, masterful suite can readily accomodate a bonus living room, an office, and an excersise zone -- or even a second bedroom. Others in this line have fashioned this over-scaled bedroom into two comfortable suites (please see proposed alternate plan). With its own classic bath, walk-in closets, and another new, through-wall AC/heat unit, the upstairs is like a second big-view apartment unto itself -- offering the ultimate flexible space for all of life's growing needs.

Life at 12 Beekman is refined, elegant, and easy. Mid-Century and full-service, the handsome building is known for its sweet location on the tree-lined corner of East 50th and beautiful Beekman Place, not to mention its seasoned staff, in-building garage (preferred rates for 12 Beekman owners), and its lovely garden terrace. Residents enjoy the privacy and discretion of their prime address, and prime access to every area cultural, shopping, and dining destination. Here, you enjoy a primo perch in a convenient neighborhood with an authentic, heart-warming, storied soul. Shops are boutique, and vendors know your name and what you like. The newly expanded East River Promenade offers you quiet moments along the water. Supremely situated by the Upper Eastside, downtown, and midtown, there is easy access to 4, 5, 6, 7, E, M, and Metro-North trains, the NYC Ferry, Roosevelt Island Tram, and FDR Drive. An exclusive enclave renowned for its historic townhouses and stately buildings, Beekman Place is a magically serene retreat -- with a smart neighborhood association and private security -- right in the heart of the city.

This is one of the best kept secrets in Manhattan: This sunshiny, river-view stunner is a rare and resplendent stand-out -- a one-of-a-kind home with a lovable location, a remarkable layout, and trophy views that will enchant and inspire for years to come.

Beekman Place | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Beekman Place is less of a neighborhood than it is a quiet two-block enclave just north of the United Nations on the far eastern edge of Turtle Bay. There is only one street that runs through the neighborhood, also called Beekman Place, that wraps itself around 49th Street and 51st Street.

This bucolic little stretch of the east side has always been a cherished spot for those fortunate enough to have found refuge here. The noise and the street traffic from the city surrounds is virtually non-existent as there are no through streets in this neighborhood.

The neighborhood composition largely consists of a few clusters of townhouses and prewar co-ops. The exception to the rule is the charming art-deco-styled Beekman Place Hotel at the corner of First Avenue and 49th Street and the two post-war towers, 860 and 870 UN Plaza that front the grounds of the United Nations.
