Property Description for 273 State Street

Welcome home! 273 State Street is a striking four-story modern townhouse offering four bedrooms, four bathrooms, and approximately 3,000 square feet of thoughtfully designed living space. Built in 2005 as part of the revered “14 Townhouses” and meticulously maintained, the home blends contemporary design with warm, livable elegance. Flooded with natural light, the home is anchored by a dramatic 20-foot double-height window looking out to the private garden, creating a bright and airy atmosphere throughout. The open layout is incredibly flexible, ideal for both everyday living and entertaining. The garden level welcomes you with a stone-floored entry, a spacious custom California Closet, a full bathroom, and a south-facing guest bedroom or den. The expansive kitchen is the true heart of the home, featuring a premium Sub-Zero refrigerator and a six-burner Wolf range, along with abundant cabinetry and prep space. The adjacent dining area is framed by a stunning double-height wall of glass and opens seamlessly to the landscaped backyard through sliding glass doors, perfect for indoor-outdoor living and dining. Upstairs, the parlor level offers a gracious and dramatic open space with two distinct seating areas, a wood-burning fireplace, and a glass railing overlooking the dining area below. A custom glass chandelier adds a beautiful sculptural focal point. It reflects light along the tall sidewall, bringing the outdoors in. The third floor features two generously sized bedrooms each spanning the full width of the house, two bathrooms - one ensuite - and a laundry room that suburban dreams are made of equipped with full sized washer and vented dryer along with countertop and tons of extra space. The entire fourth floor is dedicated to the primary suite, a private retreat complete with a customized dressing area and ample closet space. The spa-like primary bathroom features a deep soaking tub, double vanity, and elegant Carrara marble finishes throughout. Also on this level is a spacious south facing terrace, overlooking tree lined State Street. A great spot for an evening drink or a break from the day. The full basement, with nearly 9-foot ceilings, offers exceptional potential for customization or keep as is for an extensive amount of storage. Located on an historic and desirable block of State Street, this home is moments from the transportation hub at Borough Hall and Jay Street–MetroTech, as well as some of Brooklyn’s best dining, shopping, and cultural destinations.

Boerum Hill | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

Boerum Hill is a tiny, quiet, primarily residential neighborhood in Brooklyn. There are broad tree-lined streets that are filled with elegant three and four-story brownstones and townhouses, mostly built between 1840 and 1870. There is a definite family vibe to the neighborhood, but young professionals are moving in, and with them are coming trendy bars to cater to their desire for some measure of nightlife, without having to linger in Manhattan. These new bars and restaurants are being sandwiched in amongst existing shops on both Atlantic Avenue and Smith Street, which are the main commercial areas in Boerum Hill.

Boerum Hill offers a convenient location that is still able to maintain its small-neighborhood feel. Shopkeepers value their customers and remember their regulars. It continues to do what it was designed to do, namely provide small-town living in the very shadow of the big city. Boerum Hill is an easy commute to other parts of the city, making it easy to come home every day to the peace and tranquility of Boerum Hill while commuting to a job anywhere in the city.

The neighborhood is quite walkable and you can take the time to catch up with your neighbors while visiting on their stoops. Shopping on Atlantic Avenue is stress-free with no high pressure. You can meet with friends at any of the many coffee shops and while away pleasant hours in conversation. The dining scene on Smith Street is similarly laid-back. Don’t expect that there will be quite as much to see or do as there is in Manhattan, but there are a decent number of interesting bars and restaurants providing a measure of nightlife. The trade-off is worth it, as Boerum Hill provides a quiet, peaceful place to live and raise a family.
