Property Description for 240 West 102nd Street, 65

CLASSIC 9 ROOM TREASURE

BIG, BRIGHT & FULL OF CHARACTER

Created in the 19th Century and upgraded for a big 21st Century life, here is a stretch-out sweetheart that keeps going and going and going. Classically laid out, this home's floor plan is timeless and relevant -- giving you room upon room in which to enjoy your expansive life.

The living room offers big windows, two exposures, architectural views, high ceilings, and a feel-good vibe. Unfolding beyond are the den/library and the dining room -- with a decorative fireplace and period detail. The kitchen is windowed and wide -- immensely practical and efficient. These entertaining rooms are bridged to the bedrooms by a dramatic gallery hall -- a smart and elegant hallmark of its era, and a gracious way to give the bedrooms their privacy.

The two guest bedroom suites are bright, have a comfortable scale, and share a full windowed bath. The primary bedroom has two sun-splashed exposures (cross breezes, anyone?) and an ensuite half bath. There is a bonus fourth "bedroom" that is ideal as a flex office/den/guest space -- this "bit of extra" is intimate and bright and offers an ensuite half bath. All in all, this resplendent residence has a grand intimacy and an intimate grandeur. It's handsome, functional, and immensely heartwarming.

With a prime position in its well run, friendly, historical building, this home enjoys all of the benefits of its lovely address. The Super is live-in, the lobby is attended from early morning til late night; there are storage and bike rooms, a playroom, central laundry, and a gorgeous planted roof deck. Nearby are most every Upper Westside dining, shopping, cultural, entertainment and educational destination -- not to mention easy proximity to Central and Riverside Parks and a plethora of convenient transportation options.

If you value location and an enduring classic space ideal for all of your growing needs, then look no further. Your easy-living starts here.

Upper West Side | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Bracketed on its east and west borders by massive city parks, the Upper West Side (UWS) is known for its greenery, stately and elegant townhomes, safe streets and great schools, all of which make it a very desirable neighborhood for families. The UWS has maintained its community feeling, making it attractive to young professionals and retirees, both of whom want a sense of belonging in the place they call home.

Here you’ll find many apartment buildings, especially those along Central Park West. Historic architecture abounds, anchored by four luxury co-ops - the San Remo, Majestic, Century and Eldorado apartments - all of which have two towers on their interiors. They were built in the 1930s and their design was predicated on a 1929 building code that imposed a height limit on residences facing the street. There are also impressive row houses near Riverside Drive throughout the W 70 and 80 Streets. Above the 90s, you will find smaller buildings where walk-ups are very reasonably priced.

There are several world-class museums and venues dedicated to the performing arts. Plentiful dining can be found in the UWS. You will find everything from quaint Jewish delis serving up bagels and a schmear to sophisticated fine dining that has earned multiple Michelin stars, and everything you could possibly want in between. There is also abundant shopping and a vibrant nightlife.
