Property Description for 81 Grand Street, 2

Welcome home to one of Williamsburg's most architecturally distinctive offerings. This sun-drenched 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom duplex at 81 Grand Street delivers the kind of light, volume, and finish level that is genuinely rare in the rental market.

The moment you walk in, the scale of the space stops you. Soaring double-height ceilings open to a dramatic clerestory skylight that pours natural light deep into the living area throughout the day. Wide-plank white oak hardwood floors run throughout both levels, and a sculptural cascading ring pendant chandelier anchors the kitchen and dining area as both a design statement and a functional centerpiece.

The chef's kitchen is fully outfitted and exceptionally finished, featuring floor-to-ceiling white lacquer flat-panel cabinetry, a generous waterfall quartz island with bar seating, a mother-of-pearl mosaic tile backsplash, and a full suite of stainless steel LG appliances including a range, built-in microwave, dishwasher, and French door refrigerator. Whether you cook daily or entertain occasionally, this kitchen handles both with ease.

The open-plan main level flows seamlessly from kitchen and dining into a generously proportioned living room, all framed by oversized black-frame windows that track the sun from morning through afternoon. The layout gives you room to breathe without sacrificing the connection between spaces.

Upstairs, the second level opens to sweeping city views and two private terraces -- your own outdoor escape above the Williamsburg rooftops, whether you want to host or simply unwind. The primary bedroom suite is quiet, well-proportioned, and thoughtfully detailed, with direct terrace access. The second bedroom is equally bright, with city views and good separation from the primary.

The bathrooms continue the home's commitment to quality finishes. The primary bath features a wall-hung toilet, a floating walnut vanity with white stone countertop, a large mirrored medicine cabinet with integrated lighting, and a frameless glass sliding shower enclosure finished in the same mother-of-pearl mosaic tile as the kitchen. Large-format light grey floor tiles complete the spa-like feel. The stacked LG washer/dryer is also housed here, fully in-unit, for maximum convenience.

Transit: You are incredibly well-connected from this address. The NYC Ferry at North 5th Street is just 0.3 miles away, the L train at Bedford Avenue is 0.36 miles, the J/M/Z at Marcy Avenue is 0.56 miles, and the G/L at Metropolitan Avenue is 0.66 miles. Getting anywhere in Brooklyn or Manhattan is genuinely effortless.

The neighborhood: Steps from Domino Park, the East River waterfront, and some of Brooklyn's best restaurants, cafes, wine bars, and independent retail. This is prime Williamsburg at its best -- walkable, vibrant, and only getting better.

$20 application fee per applicant. Please note this is a 4th floor walkup.

Williamsburg | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

Equal parts family-friendly and millennial haven/nightlife destination, Williamsburg offers the best of all worlds. Whether by night or by day, the ‘Burg has endless options for every type of personality and interest--which has only increasingly become the case after the neighborhood was rezoned in 2005. With the floodgate opened for more varied types of businesses, Williamsburg saw one of the highest rates of development in the past decade than any other part of Brooklyn.

Referred to as “Little Berlin” for its late night and club-oriented nature, Williamsburg works as hard as it plays. Apart from the Clubland concentrated around Wythe Avenue, there is also a slew of offices (like 25 Kent Avenue, a sprawling eight-floor, 500,000-square foot waterfront building) and co-working spaces such as WeWork, The Yard and Green Desk that make it an ideal location for the corporate-, startup- and tech-oriented set.

With more offices setting their sights on this part of Brooklyn, it only makes sense that more people want to live close to where they work. Apart from your average walk-up apartment, W-burg has famously become home to numerous condos along the waterfront that continue to grow and expand in concert with the businesses and corporate hubs that have entered the environment.

Even with its many and undeniable changes, however, Williamsburg remains an arts-friendly community, particularly with regard to music and literature. While DIY spaces have come and gone, certain staples have persisted to become institutions that still provide a place for up and coming musicians to perform. On the literary front, long-standing indie bookstores like Spoonbill and Sugartown and Book Thug Nation have paved the way for others to cross the river, namely McNally Jackson Books.
