Property Description for 130 Jackson Street, 1-E

Apartment 1E at Jackson Foundry Lofts
Williamsburg Living with an Extraordinary Private Garden

Welcome to Apartment 1E at Jackson Foundry Lofts: a very sunny 1-bedroom, 1.5-bath duplex that blends contemporary design with timeless industrial character. The standout feature is a south-facing private garden terrace, framed by the building's original architecture and 70-foot smokestack - which now houses a built-in wood-burning fireplace. Custom outdoor storage keeps cushions and seasonal items protected through the winter.

With approximately 750+ square feet of outdoor space, the garden features a split-level Brazilian walnut (ipe) deck, automatic lighting and irrigation for the professionally landscaped plantings, and a retractable electric awning for shade. It's a rare setting for quiet mornings, evening cooking, and easy gatherings.

The interior offers approximately 1,130 square feet across two levels. The first level features a chef's kitchen with a large work island and bar, open to the living and dining rooms, where 17-foot ceilings and a wall of floor-to-ceiling windows with remote-controlled sunshades flood the space with light and frame views of the garden. A renovated powder room with a stacked Bosch washer/dryer concealed in custom cabinetry rounds out this level. A wood-paneled entry foyer and cast-iron staircase - with built-in storage tucked beneath it - lead upstairs, where you'll find a large L-shaped bedroom with en-suite bath and two oversized closets. A generous landing area at the top of the stairs works equally well as a home office, nursery, or gym.

Throughout, the apartment features wide-plank white oak flooring, recessed Philips Hue lighting, and a new Daikin hybrid central air-conditioning and heating system. Residents also enjoy access to a shared roof deck.

Originally built as the C.W. Weld tool manufacturing factory, the building's 2007 warehouse conversion took special care to preserve the historic structure, marrying modern comfort with proven solidity. Set on quiet, tree-lined Jackson Street, the home is just moments from the L train at Graham Avenue and Metropolitan Avenue - well positioned to enjoy Williamsburg's energy while offering a true retreat.

McCarren Park, McGolrick Park, and VITAL gym are all close by. The neighborhood's food scene is exceptional: The Meat Hook and the new Whole Foods anchor the everyday, while standout restaurants nearby include The Four Horsemen, L'Industrie Pizzeria, Lella Alimenari, Cozy Royale, and Win Son.

A rare opportunity to own a uniquely appointed duplex with extraordinary outdoor space in one of Brooklyn's most coveted neighborhoods.

East Williamsburg | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

East Williamsburg is a mixed industrial neighborhood in Brooklyn, with many working factories that make everything from beer and wontons to clothing and concrete. You are likely to hear screeching, pounding and the deep thump of industrial machinery throughout the day. East Williamsburg has become a haven for artists and musicians of every description, who are attracted to the large open loft spaces of the converted industrial buildings. The area has attracted a younger crowd of 20- and 30-somethings that are drawn by affordable rents and a generally lower cost of living.

There is a rich history of immigrants from Puerto Rico and Italy, and oddly enough, they chose to settle on opposite ends of Graham Avenue, with the Italians on the north and the Puerto Ricans on the south.

Housing in the area consists of mid-rise apartment buildings, row houses, and public housing complexes. There are also smaller multi-family apartment buildings available. Lofts are becoming more prevalent as the older, abandoned factory buildings come up for sale and are converted into residential properties.

East Williamsburgfairly pulses with a creative vibe. There are unique shopping venues, numerous tiny coffee shops, interesting restaurants, and cafes, along with food trucks that frequent the area. The grocery stores are affordable and carry a wide variety of goods that appeal to the eclectic tastes of the neighborhood residents.

There is a vibrant bar scene, where you will find mostly local residents imbibing, so it is easy to make friends among your neighbors if you stop in frequently at your favorite watering hole. There are many interesting shops, bars and restaurants tucked in amongst the warehouses and factories. Many do not invest in elaborate signage, so it can be difficult to find some of the best spots. Keep an eye out for hand-painted signs on the sides of buildings with arrows pointing to nondescript, nearly invisible entrances.
