Property Description for 405 West 23rd Street, 7-C

As you enter Apt. 7-C, you are met with an immediate sense of warmth & charm.
The large windows welcome you in with the sunlight —bright throughout the day & into the night—framed by corner views of trees, townhouses & city lights.

This freshly painted large studio has beautiful pre-war details with modern updates & renovations that make it a perfect gem.

The original architectural elements—the 9’+ high beamed ceilings, thick plaster walls, solid oak hardwood floors, the stripped steel front door & radiator cover—add to the apartment’s character, while the remote-controlled ceiling-fan & brand-new thru-the-wall A/C keep your view & keep it cool on the hottest days & all summer long.

The beauty of this apartment is in the endless possibilities for design…
The expansive great room offers many separate & distinct areas to entertain, dine, work, sleep, read & relax.
Keep the big open space as it is now, or create a separate sleeping alcove, as many have done before…
Perhaps utilize the recessed alcove—originally designed for a Murphy bed—for a bed & bookshelves, even a dedicated home office, along with a perfect reading spot by the window as sunshine fills the room.

The dining bay seats four or more, while the living area offers plenty of room for lounging & entertaining.

The dynamic dressing room is outfitted with floor-to-ceiling custom-shelving & built-in dresser, fit for a full-season wardrobe, with room to sit & ponder your next ensemble…
Another huge WIC in the main room, with storage for coats, luggage & more, stands ready to be stuffed to the rafters.

The windowed bath is renovated with a newly-glazed cast-iron soaking tub for you to luxuriate & marvel at the classic subway tile, the original London Terrace signature black + white mosaic tile floor & pedestal sink. An added plus is the tall shelving—where form follows function & finishes in style—the glass & chrome shelves allow easy access to towels, toiletries, perfumes & special items to shine in this sophisticated bathroom.

The large separate kitchen is fully equipped & thoughtfully updated, defined by quartz countertops, stainless steel appliances—plus the added features: microwave & dishwasher. Illuminating this well-organized design are bright overhead & under-cabinet lights, highlighting renovated white custom-cabinetry & plentiful storage.

Some of the photographs -have been virtually staged- all are marked "Virtual Staging". The furnishings, décor, artwork, and accessories shown are digital renderings intended to illustrate the potential use and scale of the space. All this and more…
Take a lap in the luxurious iconic, 1930s-era half-Olympic-sized indoor heated swimming pool—famous for its vintage architectural details: original Craftsman tiles, arched ceiling & windows. Featuring sauna & steam rooms in the locker rooms.

To top it off —one of the most spectacular lush garden-rooftops in all NYC! Truly 360-degree views of the Downtown, Hudson Yards & Midtown skylines with the stand-out icons: from the Chrysler & Empire State buildings to the Freedom Tower to The Edge.

Chelsea | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The row houses portray the world-class architecture of Greek Revival, Italianate and Georgian styles. The population is both ethnically and socially diverse, which is reflected in the restaurants and retail businesses in the neighborhood.

Western Chelsea is the center of the NYC art world, where you will find more than 200 art galleries housed in rehabbed factories and warehouses, as well as in newly-constructed buildings.

While people of many different cultures call Chelsea home, it has been a mecca over the years for people in the LGBTQ community. One census reported that as many as 22% of its residents were gay couples. Eighth Avenue is a trendy area for LGBTQ-oriented dining and shopping. Although it no longer draws the LGBTQ population that it once did, Chelsea still has many popular alternative bars.

Chelsea is primarily residential, consisting of a mixture of diverse complexes, low-rise apartment blocks, tenements, townhouses, renovated row houses, and luxury high-rises.

Chelsea is an interesting and sought-after place to live, with unique clothing boutiques, restaurants, and delis representing cultures from around the world. In addition to its quirky establishments, Chelsea has fine dining restaurants and a vibrant, hip nightlife, which adds to its allure.

Chelsea is well-served by public transportation. At least six city bus routes traverse Chelsea. There are three NYC subway routes with stops on Seventh Avenue, three on Eighth Avenue, and two more on Sixth Avenue. The 34th Street - Hudson Yards Station opened in 2015 with its main entrance in Chelsea.
