Property Description for 400 East 54th Street, 6-B

There aren’t many one-bedroom apartments for rent with 1.5 bathrooms, especially in Sutton Place, which makes this a pretty rare opportunity. Located in The Revere, this luxury apartment is on the 6th floor, with a full wall of windows facing west toward the city skyline. There are six closets throughout - five with built-in organizers - and double-pane windows to minimize any street sounds. The rooms are spacious, ready for all your furniture needs. The L-shaped living room (24.75’ x 12.50’) can fit your sectional couch, chairs, and tables. There are brand-new cordless window coverings on each window in the living room and dining area. The dining area (7.25’ x 13’) adjoins the living room, airy and full of sunlight. The kitchen (7.25’ x 7’) features stainless steel appliances, including a GE Cafe 5-burner gas stove with center griddle, a Fisher and Paykel refrigerator, a GE Cafe microwave, and a dishwasher. With granite countertops, a deep stainless steel sink, and tons of cabinets - this is truly a kitchen to cook in. The bedroom (18.25’ x 11’) can easily fit a king-sized bed and furniture. There are three closets plus cordless blackout window coverings. The bathroom (4.75’ x 7) has been freshly renovated with a brand-new glass shower enclosure, vanity mirror, and vanity. Hot water is paid for by the landlord; you’re responsible for cooking gas, electricity, and internet (Verizon, Spectrum, and RCN are all available). A yearly income of $199,800 or more and a credit score of 700 or higher qualify you. At lease signing, you’ll pay the first month’s rent and one month’s security. The condo board also has a separate set of application fees, including: a $300 move-in fee, a $150 credit check per adult, a $120 application initiation fee, a $65 digital submission fee, and a 5% app admin fee - all are non-refundable. Please note that these fees are due once the landlord has selected an applicant and the condo application is completed. Sorry, no pets allowed for tenants. No exceptions. The Revere is a full-service, professionally staffed building offering a garage, large laundry facility, and a beautifully landscaped plaza garden complete with teak furnishings and lush green spaces. Neighborhood conveniences include Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, and D'Agostino. Convenient to all transportation, including the E, M, 4, 5, and 6 trains, and the 57th Street crosstown bus. Please note that the building is undergoing Local Law 11 work (scaffolding), which is expected to be completed in the fall.

Sutton Place | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Sutton Place is usually described with favorable words like charming, cozy, great neighborhood, hidden gem, sanctuary, or even small village inside a big city. Those descriptions aren’t from real estate folks either, they’re from the people that live and work there, so it must be true.

The quiet and upscale neighborhood is more like an enclave. It’s bounded by East 53rd Street to the south, East 59th Street to the North, First Avenue to the west, and the East River to the east. Most residents will tell you that everything you’ll ever need is located in the neighborhood. When it’s time to venture out into the cityscape, Sutton Place is within easy reach to Midtown and cultural attractions like the Museum of Modern Art, Rockefeller Center, Central Park and other iconic sites.

Manhattan has always had notable celebrity residents. But for unknown reasons, Sutton Place has had more than its share of superstars over the years. Some of the more iconic celebs include: Marilyn Monroe and Arthur Miller, Freddie Mercury, Sigourney Weaver, Joan Crawford, Michael Jackson and sister Latoya (Just for one summer).

Sutton Place is named after Effingham B. Sutton, a shipping merchant and entrepreneur. After hitting it big in the California gold rush, Sutton built brownstones along East 57th and East 58th streets with aspirations of making the section more residential. Poverty and crime dashed his dreams. The street gangs that hung out along the dead-ends and cul-de-sacs added to the neighborhood’s decay. Sutton was about to give up on his development endeavors but the Vanderbilt’s and the Morgan’s showed up in the 1920s and transformed the neighborhood. It soon became a wealthy enclave.
