Property Description for 121 East 23rd Street, 6-D

Sunlight, scale, and a private balcony define Residence 6D, a thoughtfully designed two bedroom, two bathroom home spanning approximately 1,200 square feet at The Crossing, a full service condominium positioned where Flatiron meets Gramercy. The home unfolds from a welcoming entry foyer into a proper dining room, with the kitchen beyond. The updated kitchen features soft white upper cabinetry over warm oak lower cabinetry with marble countertops, a marble mosaic backsplash, and a suite of stainless appliances including a KitchenAid range with generous prep surfaces and abundant storage throughout. Past the kitchen, the corner living room is anchored by an oversized bay window that pulls in light, while rich hardwood floors run through the home. The primary suite sits privately and opens directly onto the balcony. The renovated en suite bathroom is finished in veined marble with brass fixtures, soaking tub with rain shower, fluted wood paneling, and a double vanity beneath pendant lighting. A fitted walk in closet completes the suite. The second bedroom is exceptionally scaled, easily accommodating a king sized bed, home office, or nursery, and is served by a second full bathroom. An in-unit type washer and dryer adds everyday ease. Built in 2005, The Crossing at 121 East 23rd Street is a full service condominium offering a 24 hour doorman, concierge, fitness center, resident lounge with outdoor seating, bicycle room, and central laundry. Moments from Madison Square Park, Eataly, Gramercy Park, and the 6, N, R, and W trains at 23rd Street, the building places the best of downtown Manhattan at your doorstep. Kips Bay | Manhattan

Quick Profile

If you take a walk through Kips Bay, which is loosely defined as the area between 23rd street and 34th street and the East River to almost Lexington, you’ll quickly learn it's a hodgepodge of sorts and not as well defined as other neighborhoods in New York City. Some New Yorkers say Kips Bay has an identity crisis because 1st, 2nd, and 3rd avenues are distinctly different from one another as you traverse them. Despite the perceived lack of neighborhood vibe there are others that appreciate its affordability and convenience.

First Avenue is dominated by hospitals and hospital buildings such as NYU Medical Center and Bellevue Hospital to name a few. Second Avenue is a mosaic of convenience stores, fast food joints and nondescript brick buildings. Third Avenue is saturated with small bars and gastropubs and the twenty somethings that patronize them.

No judgement against Kips Bay here. It’s a great neighborhood that is just as much a part of New York City as any other neighborhood. Kips Bay It’s bordered by Murray Hill to the North, Stuyvesant Town and Gramercy Park to the South, and Rose Hill to the West. The neighborhood is partly defined by newer high-rise apartments, brick rowhouses, and former tenement buildings.
