Property Description for 138 Ninth Ave, THOUSE

Available for a September 1st 2026 move-in date & delivered unfurnished. Pets are case by case.

Truly Spectacular and one of a kind - a nearly 3,000 square foot home in the heart of Historic Chelsea. This fully renovated single-family home is configured with three bedrooms, three full bathrooms, two powder rooms, and a charming landscaped garden that can be accessed off the kitchen or lower level.

The gated forecourt setback from the street leads to a classic entry foyer and kitchen and dining level. With an open loft-like layout, a breakfast nook and a large Chef's kitchen blend into the rear dining room with a cast iron mantle and views looking at the landscaped garden in the rear. The kitchen is rustic chic with custom millwork and high-end appliances. The wide plank floors, exposed brick, and crown moldings throughout create a warm home environment.

The entire parlor level is open allowing natural light to flow from front to back. Flanked by two colorful marble mantles which define the spaces, the gracious ceiling heights, wet bar with refrigerator/ice maker, and a powder room make this an ideal living and entertaining floor.

The top level is configured as two bedrooms. The spacious primary suite sits in front with three windows across and features a wall of dressing closets. A marble mantle and an en suite marble bathroom with Waterworks and Kalista fixtures and tile, a clawfoot soaking tub and a large shower add to the luxury of this suite. The rear of this level features another bedroom with an en-suite marble bathroom with grey and green tones featuring the same Waterworks and Kalista finishes.

The English Basement is configured with a third bedroom and an en-suite bathroom featuring a large marble soaking tub, an open shower, and an abundance of closet space. This level also features direct access to the garden, a separate laundry room with a whole-house water filtration system, and ample storage closets.

138 Ninth Avenue is only steps from the restaurants and shops along Ninth Avenue, while conveniently located to the Meatpacking District, Chelsea Market, chic art gallery district, Chelsea Piers sports complex, The High Line Park, and Hudson Yards.

Chelsea | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The row houses portray the world-class architecture of Greek Revival, Italianate and Georgian styles. The population is both ethnically and socially diverse, which is reflected in the restaurants and retail businesses in the neighborhood.

Western Chelsea is the center of the NYC art world, where you will find more than 200 art galleries housed in rehabbed factories and warehouses, as well as in newly-constructed buildings.

While people of many different cultures call Chelsea home, it has been a mecca over the years for people in the LGBTQ community. One census reported that as many as 22% of its residents were gay couples. Eighth Avenue is a trendy area for LGBTQ-oriented dining and shopping. Although it no longer draws the LGBTQ population that it once did, Chelsea still has many popular alternative bars.

Chelsea is primarily residential, consisting of a mixture of diverse complexes, low-rise apartment blocks, tenements, townhouses, renovated row houses, and luxury high-rises.

Chelsea is an interesting and sought-after place to live, with unique clothing boutiques, restaurants, and delis representing cultures from around the world. In addition to its quirky establishments, Chelsea has fine dining restaurants and a vibrant, hip nightlife, which adds to its allure.

Chelsea is well-served by public transportation. At least six city bus routes traverse Chelsea. There are three NYC subway routes with stops on Seventh Avenue, three on Eighth Avenue, and two more on Sixth Avenue. The 34th Street - Hudson Yards Station opened in 2015 with its main entrance in Chelsea.
