Property Description for 234 Skillman Ave, 6-L

Positioned on the Southwest corner of 234 Skillman Avenue, also known as The Point, is condo 6L. This 2 bedroom home is a rare find in today's marketplace among few affordable condos in Williamsburg's center. For this price few, if any homes offer direct views of the Manhattan skyline. Standing in the living room center you can see the World Trade Center to the left, Midtown Manhattan straight ahead, and Long Island City to the right. The view is certainly impressive, and at night it is difficult to not be moved by the city lights. The interior layout is ideal, with both bedrooms flanking the living/dining area. The master bedroom is quite large, easily fitting a king sized bed. The second bedroom is a good size, perfect for that at-home workspace, a child's room, or second bedroom. The unit has attractive updates, including a newly renovated kitchen, washer/dryer, relatively new heating & cooling units in each room, and additional storage. Also included for a monthly fee is a garage parking spot and private storage unit. From the views to the ideal layout this home is already a great deal at the list price, but there is a lot more than meets the eye. The Point is chock full with useful amenities. The second floor shared terrace is expansive. The rooftop terrace offers yet again spectacular city views. There is a state-of-the-art fitness center that will put an end to a pricey gym membership. Let's keep going. Additional amenities are a club room with pool table, screening room, garage for vehicles (for an extra cost), bicycle storage, storage rooms (for an extra cost), laundry room, and on-site management. Once exiting the building there is a lot more to boast about, including a plethora of great restaurants, boutique shops, and the Graham L train only 4 short blocks away. *P.S -> The 421a Tax Abatement offers great savings on your taxes. A rare benefit given most buildings with abatements in the Burg have run their course!

East Williamsburg | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

East Williamsburg is a mixed industrial neighborhood in Brooklyn, with many working factories that make everything from beer and wontons to clothing and concrete. You are likely to hear screeching, pounding and the deep thump of industrial machinery throughout the day. East Williamsburg has become a haven for artists and musicians of every description, who are attracted to the large open loft spaces of the converted industrial buildings. The area has attracted a younger crowd of 20- and 30-somethings that are drawn by affordable rents and a generally lower cost of living.

There is a rich history of immigrants from Puerto Rico and Italy, and oddly enough, they chose to settle on opposite ends of Graham Avenue, with the Italians on the north and the Puerto Ricans on the south.

Housing in the area consists of mid-rise apartment buildings, row houses, and public housing complexes. There are also smaller multi-family apartment buildings available. Lofts are becoming more prevalent as the older, abandoned factory buildings come up for sale and are converted into residential properties.

East Williamsburgfairly pulses with a creative vibe. There are unique shopping venues, numerous tiny coffee shops, interesting restaurants, and cafes, along with food trucks that frequent the area. The grocery stores are affordable and carry a wide variety of goods that appeal to the eclectic tastes of the neighborhood residents.

There is a vibrant bar scene, where you will find mostly local residents imbibing, so it is easy to make friends among your neighbors if you stop in frequently at your favorite watering hole. There are many interesting shops, bars and restaurants tucked in amongst the warehouses and factories. Many do not invest in elaborate signage, so it can be difficult to find some of the best spots. Keep an eye out for hand-painted signs on the sides of buildings with arrows pointing to nondescript, nearly invisible entrances.
