Property Description for 10 Mitchell Place, 9-E

Fully renovated, south facing studio at Stewart Hall, a prewar cooperative built in 1928 on East 49th Street between Beekman Place and First Avenue. The apartment retains a rare, functioning wood burning fireplace and high ceilings alongside restored hardwood floors, new interior doors, and oversized thermal windows that fill the space with light throughout the day with river views.

The windowed kitchen has custom cabinetry, Caesarstone countertops, terracotta floor tile, a Bosch dishwasher, a Forte refrigerator, and a Gaggenau stovetop. The windowed bathroom features imported Brazilian wall tile, porcelain flooring, an Italian vanity sink, and a frameless double sliding shower door. A walk in closet and dimmable designer sconces round out the layout.

Stewart Hall offers a full time doorman, live in superintendent, laundry room, bike room, ebike charging room, and a landscaped roof deck with 360 views of the East River, Chrysler Building, and more. Private storage units are also available.

Cats and dogs are permitted, and the board considers pied a terre purchases, gifting, and co purchasing on a case by case basis.

Nearby subway access includes the E and M trains at Lexington Avenue, and the 6 train at 51st Street. The building is zoned for P.S. 059 Beekman Hill International.

Beekman Place | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Beekman Place is less of a neighborhood than it is a quiet two-block enclave just north of the United Nations on the far eastern edge of Turtle Bay. There is only one street that runs through the neighborhood, also called Beekman Place, that wraps itself around 49th Street and 51st Street.

This bucolic little stretch of the east side has always been a cherished spot for those fortunate enough to have found refuge here. The noise and the street traffic from the city surrounds is virtually non-existent as there are no through streets in this neighborhood.

The neighborhood composition largely consists of a few clusters of townhouses and prewar co-ops. The exception to the rule is the charming art-deco-styled Beekman Place Hotel at the corner of First Avenue and 49th Street and the two post-war towers, 860 and 870 UN Plaza that front the grounds of the United Nations.
