Property Description for 380 Herkimer Street, 1

Designed in 1886 by the preeminent architect Amzi Hill, 380 Herkimer Street is a beautifully maintained, classic two-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment with a private entrance and garden. Original moldings, wainscoting, inlaid hardwood floors, and a decorative mantel showcase the home’s historic character, while split-unit heating and air conditioning and a renovated kitchen and bath provide modern comfort and convenience. Open and inviting, the living area features exposed brick, wood beams, and vintage lighting, while the contemporary kitchen brings out your inner chef with cherry oak cabinetry, stainless steel appliances, a six-burner stove, microwave, and dishwasher. The renovated bathroom, complete with a soaking tub, is conveniently located just off the kitchen. Two spacious bedrooms are thoughtfully positioned at opposite ends of the apartment for added privacy. The front bedroom retains its historic character with a decorative mantel, wainscoting, and original molding, while the south-facing rear bedroom provides a peaceful retreat with direct access to the private garden. Beautifully furnished with high-quality outdoor furnishings and vintage touches, the enchanting garden is your own oasis in the city. The perfect setting for fireside chats and al fresco dining. A shared storage area and washer/dryer in the basement provide added convenience. 380 Herkimer Street is ideally located just steps from bustling Fulton Street, home to Super Foodtown, PureGym, El Jeffe Mexican restaurant, and a wide array of shops and eateries. With the A/C subway lines and multiple bus routes just around the corner, commuting couldn’t be easier. Parking can be leased from neighboring buildings. Cats are welcome upon approval. Sorry, no dogs and no smoking.

Bedford Stuyvesant | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

Known for its historic brownstones and tight-knit enclave, Bed-Stuy has increasingly left behind its early reputation for being a “bedroom community” and transcended into a highly desirable neighborhood.

Distinct for its aesthetic, it is populated with ornate buildings characterized by cornices, friezes, finials, fluting and other marks of classic architecture. Built up during the period from 1870 to 1900, its historic district runs to the north of Jefferson Avenue, to the east of Malcolm X Boulevard and to the west of Tompkins Avenue.

At one point known as “Brooklyn’s Little Harlem,” the shape of the area has shifted toward attracting a wider demographic of people thanks to the influx of bars, restaurants, antique furniture stores and vintage boutiques. More police enforcement paired with the decline of the crack epidemic at the beginning of the 2000s also opened the door for increased development, as well as the occupation of formerly abandoned buildings and spaces.
