Property Description for 132 Duane Street, 5-FLR

In the heart of Tribeca, 132 Duane Street offers a rare opportunity to experience true downtown loft living on an extraordinary scale.

Arrive by key-locked elevator directly into this expansive duplex penthouse, offering approximately 4,000 square feet of interior space with exceptional volume, privacy, and flexibility.

The dramatic open living and dining area is defined by soaring ceilings, oversized windows, a beautiful wood-burning fireplace and the architectural character that makes an authentic Tribeca loft so distinctive. Generous proportions allow for multiple seating, dining, and entertaining areas while preserving the openness and scale of the original loft.

The residence offers three bedrooms with the flexibility to create a fourth, along with three full bathrooms. The guest bathroom is complete with a glass-enclosed shower, adding the convenience of a third full bath for guests and overnight visitors.

At the center of the main living level is a large open kitchen designed for both everyday living and entertaining, connecting seamlessly with the surrounding loft space and maintaining the openness of the home's expansive interior. Two Bosch dishwashers provide an especially practical amenity for entertaining on a larger scale.

Ascending to the upper level, the character of the penthouse shifts to a more private retreat. The glass-enclosed atrium creates a striking transition into the primary suite and offers an extraordinary additional space for a private office, lounge, reading room, or creative use.

Beyond the atrium is the primary bedroom, anchored by a gas fireplace and designed as a private escape from the main living areas below. From the bedroom, a substantial walk-through closet leads into the beautifully spacious primary bathroom, where walls of windows along both the eastern and southern exposures fill the room with natural light and create an exceptional sense of openness.

The atrium also provides direct access to the expansive private roof terrace. With open city views and generous space for outdoor dining, entertaining, lounging, and planting, the terrace becomes a natural extension of the penthouse and its upper-level living spaces.

Additional features include an in-residence washer and dryer, direct key-locked elevator access and generous storage throughout.

132 Duane Street is an intimate, private prewar building ideally positioned in the heart of Tribeca, surrounded by some of downtown Manhattan's best restaurants, galleries, and shopping, with Hudson River Park and multiple transportation options nearby.

An extraordinary Tribeca duplex penthouse combining authentic loft character, exceptional scale and a private rooftop experience-a true expression of Tribeca loft living that is increasingly difficult to find.

Tribeca | Manhattan

Quick Profile

TriBeCa, named after the small geographic triangle below Canal Street. It’s not really a triangle, it's a quadrilateral and it's bounded by West Street, Broadway, and Chambers Street. It’s a little too late for a name change and besides, QuaBeCa doesn't sound half as cool as Tribeca.

One of New York City’s more notable acronymed neighborhoods, TriBeCa is known for its trendy boutiques, fabolous restaurants, historical landmarks, and resident celebrity lofts. It still holds the title of one of the coolest places to live in New York City.

TriBeCa is one of the first residential neighborhoods of New York City. Way back in 1700’s wealthy New Yorkers built homes and maintained gardens in what is now TriBeca.

Later in history it shifted from residential to warehouses, commerce and markets. After the Civil War, shipping hubs moved from the East River to the Hudson River and revitalized areas like the South Street Seaport and TriBeca. When shipping and commerce increased, the area soon became a favorite spot for wholesalers to store their goods in large industrial warehouses.

Just like its neighbor SoHo, TriBeCa boasts one of the world’s largest collections of wrought-iron facades and Neo-Grecian architecture.
