Property Description for 438 East 12th Street, 6-S

Have you ever dreamed of living above a bookstore? Now's your chance.
Coming later this year, Barnes & Noble will open directly below this elegant 1,244-square-foot, two-bedroom, two-bath residence at Steiner East Village, bringing books, culture, and an easy coffee break literally downstairs. It's a pretty irresistible East Village perk, and one that makes this home especially unique.Designed by Paris Forino, the residence pairs sophisticated interiors with a wonderfully serene sense of home. Oversized bronze-framed casement windows, 10'7" ceilings, and peaceful courtyard views fill the apartment with light, while wide-plank white oak floors and custom millwork add warmth and polish. The open chef's kitchen is beautifully appointed with Wolf, Sub-Zero, and Bosch appliances and luxurious marble finishes. The spacious primary suite features a walk-in closet and spa-like bath with radiant heated floors, a soaking tub, and separate shower. A second full bath, dramatic powder room, and in-unit washer/dryer complete the home.
Steiner East Village is a full-service condominium with dual marquee entrances on 11th and 12th Streets, 24-hour concierge service, and a live-in resident manager. More than 16,000 square feet of amenities include a teak-ribbed indoor pool overlooking a private landscaped garden, spa sanctuary with steam room and sauna, 2,000-square-foot fitness center programmed by FitLore Health & Wellness, resident library with fireplace, and children's playroom.Outside, residents enjoy a 5,000-square-foot rooftop park and a 3,000-square-foot private courtyard.
A beautifully designed East Village condo with a very good bookshop about to become your downstairs neighbor.

East Village | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The East Village has two distinct moods. By day, it is quiet and peaceful. Everyone is out and about, either working or relaxing at Tompkins Square Park, strolling or jogging along the East River, or hanging out in one of the subsets of cultural activity, such as St. Mark’s Place.

But then night falls, and the East Village comes to life, keeping the entertainment and nightlife going long after the other neighborhoods have called it quits for the night. People from all five boroughs flock to the dive bars and speakeasies, head for their favorite cafes and restaurants, or drop in to a music venue to listen to hot tunes or cool jazz and dance the night away. Don’t worry, you don’t have to “know somebody” to gain admittance to even the most popular venues. You won’t find velvet ropes, bouncers, or and a waiting list at the door of most places. Just walk right in and enjoy yourself.

Be prepared for the increased population during fall through spring, when NYU is in session. College students will be everywhere, contributing to the youthful essense of the neighborhood.
