Property Description for 400 East 52nd Street, 1-F

Spacious Art Deco Studio in the Fabled Southgate Complex

Welcome to Apt. 1F at 400 East 52nd Street, a generously proportioned studio offering comfortable, quiet living in the heart of Sutton Place.

Located within the fabled Emory Roth-designed Southgate complex, this spacious home combines prewar charm with an exceptionally peaceful setting. The apartment features a well-proportioned living space, a windowed kitchen, and a windowed bathroom-a rare and desirable feature in a studio. The layout provides ample room for distinct living, dining, and sleeping areas, allowing you to create a home that truly works for you.

Southgate is one of Manhattan's most celebrated Art Deco residential communities, set along a quiet cul-de-sac surrounded by mature landscaping and gracious pathways. Residents enjoy the services of a 24-hour doorman and live-in resident manager, providing both convenience and peace of mind.

Ideally situated in Sutton Place, yet wonderfully removed from the bustle of the city, Southgate offers a unique combination of architecture, tranquility, service, and location. Beekman Place | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Beekman Place is less of a neighborhood than it is a quiet two-block enclave just north of the United Nations on the far eastern edge of Turtle Bay. There is only one street that runs through the neighborhood, also called Beekman Place, that wraps itself around 49th Street and 51st Street.

This bucolic little stretch of the east side has always been a cherished spot for those fortunate enough to have found refuge here. The noise and the street traffic from the city surrounds is virtually non-existent as there are no through streets in this neighborhood.

The neighborhood composition largely consists of a few clusters of townhouses and prewar co-ops. The exception to the rule is the charming art-deco-styled Beekman Place Hotel at the corner of First Avenue and 49th Street and the two post-war towers, 860 and 870 UN Plaza that front the grounds of the United Nations.
