Property Description for 26 Eldert Street, 1

Welcome to Residence #1 at 26 Eldert Street, an expansive 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom duplex offering approximately 1,843 square feet of interior space and a private backyard oasis in the heart of Bushwick.

Designed for both everyday living and entertaining, this home offers the kind of space that’s increasingly hard to find in Brooklyn. The generous duplex layout provides flexibility for separate living, dining, work-from-home, and entertaining areas, with three well-proportioned bedrooms and two full bathrooms.

The true standout is the large private backyard. A rare extension of the living space and your own escape from the city. Create an outdoor dining area, garden, lounge space, or all three. Whether it’s morning coffee, summer dinners with friends, or a quiet evening outside, this is the kind of outdoor space that makes a New York home feel entirely different.

And when you’re ready to leave your backyard retreat, the city is within easy reach. The L train offers convenient access to Union Square, and the J Train offers seamless access to Williamsburg, Lower Manhattan, and beyond, while the neighborhood’s restaurants, cafés, bars, and local favorites are all close at hand.

Bushwick | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

As one of the most diverse neighborhoods in New York, Bushwick offers a perfect snapshot of just how multicultural the city is. Long-established as an amalgam of cultures and ethnicities, a wave of varying types of immigrants trickled in from the seventeenth to twentieth centuries, with Bushwick largely becoming a home to Hispanics of Puerto Rican and Dominican backgrounds by the latter part of the twentieth century.

With the Bushwick Initiative of the mid-00s that aided in revitalization, it became an attractive area to young professionals and artists. And even now, Bushwick has sustained affordable rent prices where other North Brooklyn counterparts, like Williamsburg and Greenpoint, have become more expensive. Priding itself on the weird and the wacky, numerous art collectives thrive in this part of Brooklyn, once famously named the seventh coolest neighborhood in the world by Vogue.

Though it has drawn in many tourists in recent years (there’s even a graffiti tour you can take from the Bushwick Collective), the neighborhood remains very much community-oriented, and has not been subject to quite the same sort of corporate infiltration phenomenon of its nearby Williamsburg environs.

But yes, of course, Bushwick has come a very long way from its 80s and 90s reputation as being “The Well,” a nickname given to it for its free-flowing and widely available amount of drugs (quantity over quality being the cliche applied here).

Bold Reminder of Tribeca’s Past – 66 Leonard Street

The Textile Building at 66 Leonard Street sits prominently on the southeast corner of Leonard Street and Church Street, a bold reminder of Tribeca past.  Across the street, ever-looming over this turn-of-the-century limestone edifice, is the Jenga-like skyscraper, 56 Leonard Street, a marvel of modern engineering and a must-see on any downtown attraction list.  I...
