Property Description for 425 East 51st Street, 6-AB

Style, Sophistication, Scale, Space and Serenity

Set within one of Beekman's most favored prewar co-ops, this extraordinary three-bedroom, three-bathroom residence combines abundant southern light, exceptional space, and a beautifully executed renovation. With over 9 foot ceilings and generous room sizes throughout, the apartment has a wonderful sense of scale while still feeling warm and inviting. With no detail overlooked, this gracious home is ready to enjoy.

From the moment you enter, you immediately realize how special it is. A gracious 20-foot entry gallery welcomes you, providing the perfect setting for displaying art and featuring an oversized closet. From there, you enter the beautifully appointed, sun-splashed living room with custom built-ins. A wide arched opening connects the living room to the adjacent dining room, which can easily accommodate eight or more. Open views over a quiet block and a sunny southern exposure provide a glimpse of city life while filling the rooms with natural light.

On the other side of the gallery, the windowed eat-in kitchen features a built-in banquette and a timeless palette of classic whites and warm woods, creating the perfect setting for cooking, casual meals and morning coffee.

The split-bedroom plan affords privacy for everyone, and the primary suite is truly exceptional. Larger than most studio apartments, the primary bedroom has plenty of room for a king-size bed, sitting area and home office. The en-suite primary bath, finished with beautiful marble mosaic tile floors and beveled white subway tile, offers features rarely found in prewar buildings: a deep soaking tub, separate large stall shower, double-sink vanity, two windows and even a dressing table. Two walk-in closets provide ample storage for even the most extensive wardrobe. In a separate wing of the apartment, both additional bedrooms are generously sized and feature en-suite bathrooms and ample closet space, providing wonderful privacy.

Throughout the home, classic prewar character and modern convenience come together beautifully. High beamed ceilings, elegant moldings and millwork, and gorgeous inlaid wood floors lend character and timeless elegance throughout, equally suited to comfortable everyday living and sophisticated entertaining. Low monthlies too! Conveniently located near PS 59 Beekman Hill International School. Washers/dryers are not permitted, laundry is available in the basement.

Built in 1928, Beekman Hill House is a charming prewar cooperative known for its attentive, live-in resident manager and full porter service. Porters accept packages and deliveries from 8 a.m. to midnight, adding convenience and peace of mind to everyday living. Amenities include bike storage and a lovely side and rear courtyard.

Set within the desirable Beekman Hill neighborhood, the building sits along a tree-lined cul-de-sac leading to Peter Detmold Park. This peaceful, wooded waterfront retreat features beautiful East River views, a scenic walkway, benches and an off-leash dog area. The East River Esplanade is just two blocks away. Residents also benefit from a private neighborhood patrol, adding to the area's sense of community and security.

Enjoying an appealing selection of restaurants, including Copinette, Deux Amis and La Terre, along with the cafés and dining destinations nearby. Morton Williams, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's are within walking distance. For recreation, enjoy nearby Beekman & Sutton Place Parks, the East River Promenade, Bloomingdale's and Central Park. Fitness enthusiasts will appreciate convenient access to Equinox, SoulCycle and wellness options.

With its impressive scale, beautiful southern light, gracious layout, distinctive prewar character and peaceful residential setting, this remarkable home offers style, sophistication, scale, space and serenity in one the most charming neighborhood.

Beekman Place | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Beekman Place is less of a neighborhood than it is a quiet two-block enclave just north of the United Nations on the far eastern edge of Turtle Bay. There is only one street that runs through the neighborhood, also called Beekman Place, that wraps itself around 49th Street and 51st Street.

This bucolic little stretch of the east side has always been a cherished spot for those fortunate enough to have found refuge here. The noise and the street traffic from the city surrounds is virtually non-existent as there are no through streets in this neighborhood.

The neighborhood composition largely consists of a few clusters of townhouses and prewar co-ops. The exception to the rule is the charming art-deco-styled Beekman Place Hotel at the corner of First Avenue and 49th Street and the two post-war towers, 860 and 870 UN Plaza that front the grounds of the United Nations.
