Property Description for 185 Skillman Ave, 2-R

Open the door to Residence 2R and it's immediately clear no expense was spared. This two-bedroom, two-bathroom home offers two exposures, a large private terrace, and its own storage unit. Soaring ceilings, floor to ceiling European windows, and wide plank oak floors imported from Spain speak to a level of craftsmanship rarely matched anywhere in the neighborhood, or in New York City. The living and dining room, wired with built-in Sonos speakers, offers space for a full sectional and a table for six, opening directly onto the terrace, where an outdoor kitchen invites owners to cook, entertain, and unwind in their own open air retreat. The kitchen continues that high standard, walnut Italian cabinetry by The Cut, a waterfall island in honed Omani Beige marble, and fully integrated Miele and Bertazzoni appliances. The primary suite is a true retreat, with a walk-in closet fitted with a custom system and a spa-like bath featuring a double vanity in Calacutta and white marble, an oversized medicine cabinet, radiant heated floors, and a glass enclosed shower. A second bedroom, equally bright, sits beside a full bath with a deep soaking tub, ideal for a guest or a home office, and a washer and dryer hookup completes the convenience of the home. Every detail, from the marble to the millwork, reflects a standard of craftsmanship few buildings in Williamsburg, or the city, can claim. 185 Skillman Avenue rises six stories on a tree lined street in prime Williamsburg. It is a rare fifty foot wide elevator condominium with only eight residences and the amenities of a much larger building. A striking lobby of white oak paneling and glass block, a fully equipped fitness studio, a bike room, a private garage, and a package room with a remote intercom system for deliveries make daily life effortless. Just two blocks from the L train at Graham Avenue, the neighborhood is defined by its dining and its walkability. Cozy Royale, La Locanda, Mesa Coyoacan, ChinGoo, and the local cafe Good Thanks are a short stroll away, and destinations like Lilia and Llama Inn are just minutes from your door. Morning runs in McCarren Park, afternoons on the East River waterfront, and evenings at live music venues, galleries, and independent cinemas are part of everyday life here. 2R is a rare chance to own in an architecturally significant, collector worthy building at the heart of Williamsburg. East Williamsburg | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

East Williamsburg is a mixed industrial neighborhood in Brooklyn, with many working factories that make everything from beer and wontons to clothing and concrete. You are likely to hear screeching, pounding and the deep thump of industrial machinery throughout the day. East Williamsburg has become a haven for artists and musicians of every description, who are attracted to the large open loft spaces of the converted industrial buildings. The area has attracted a younger crowd of 20- and 30-somethings that are drawn by affordable rents and a generally lower cost of living.

There is a rich history of immigrants from Puerto Rico and Italy, and oddly enough, they chose to settle on opposite ends of Graham Avenue, with the Italians on the north and the Puerto Ricans on the south.

Housing in the area consists of mid-rise apartment buildings, row houses, and public housing complexes. There are also smaller multi-family apartment buildings available. Lofts are becoming more prevalent as the older, abandoned factory buildings come up for sale and are converted into residential properties.

East Williamsburgfairly pulses with a creative vibe. There are unique shopping venues, numerous tiny coffee shops, interesting restaurants, and cafes, along with food trucks that frequent the area. The grocery stores are affordable and carry a wide variety of goods that appeal to the eclectic tastes of the neighborhood residents.

There is a vibrant bar scene, where you will find mostly local residents imbibing, so it is easy to make friends among your neighbors if you stop in frequently at your favorite watering hole. There are many interesting shops, bars and restaurants tucked in amongst the warehouses and factories. Many do not invest in elaborate signage, so it can be difficult to find some of the best spots. Keep an eye out for hand-painted signs on the sides of buildings with arrows pointing to nondescript, nearly invisible entrances.
