Property Description for 83-10 35th Ave, 5-L

Sun-Filled, West-Facing Pre-War One Bedroom with Newly Renovated Kitchen and Bath Enjoy beautiful sunsets, treetop views, and the charm of pre-war architecture in this spacious fifth-floor, one-bedroom home at Fillmore Hall. With a newly renovated kitchen and bath, exceptional closet space, and wonderful natural light, this apartment combines classic character with modern comforts. A gracious, extra-long and wide entry foyer welcomes you into the home. Three enormous walk-in closets provide an extraordinary amount of storage - rarely found in a one-bedroom apartment. There is ample room for coats, clothing, seasonal belongings, and even pantry storage. The generous foyer also offers plenty of space to create a comfortable home office. The expansive living room is a highlight of the apartment, featuring two oversized west-facing windows that frame lovely views of mature trees, open sky, and a beautiful historic church. Perched on the fifth floor, the apartment enjoys wonderful afternoon light and gorgeous sunsets. The room's generous proportions easily accommodate a substantial sofa, coffee table, and dining area, while original hardwood floors, crown molding, and pre-war details add warmth and character. The newly renovated, windowed eat-in kitchen is both stylish and functional, with crisp white cabinetry, granite countertops, a full-height granite backsplash, and a large single-bowl sink with a pull-down faucet. Brand-new stainless steel appliances, including a gas range and dishwasher, complete the space. A sunny area beside the kitchen window offers room for a breakfast table and chairs, a bar-height table, or additional shelving. The spacious bedroom comfortably accommodates a king-size bed along with additional furniture. Windows facing north, west, and east provide natural light throughout the day, while a large closet offers even more storage. The just-renovated, windowed bathroom features classic white subway tile with contrasting grout, a contemporary vanity with storage, a rain showerhead, a heated bidet toilet, and an illuminated medicine cabinet. The thoughtful finishes give the space a fresh, modern feel while complementing the apartment's pre-war character. Built in 1930 by E. Adelsohn, Fillmore Hall is a stately neo-Romanesque cooperative distinguished by intricate red brickwork, a crenelated roofline, and beautifully landscaped recessed courtyards. Recent capital improvements include exterior repointing, gas line upgrades, elevator modernization, and a newly expanded laundry room. Residents of this pet-friendly cooperative enjoy a live-in superintendent, music room, package room, laundry room, bicycle storage, and additional storage (currently waitlisted). Subletting is permitted with board approval. Ideally situated on a beautiful tree-lined block in the heart of the Jackson Heights Historic District, Fillmore Hall is moments from Paseo Park and Travers Park, home to playgrounds, sports courts, and a popular year-round Greenmarket. The public library is just three blocks away, while the neighborhood's exceptional restaurants, cafés, shops, and nightlife are all close at hand. Convenient access to the 7, E, F, M, and R subway lines and numerous bus routes makes commuting throughout the city easy. With its generous proportions, extraordinary storage, newly renovated kitchen and bath, and beautiful western light, Apartment 5L offers a wonderful opportunity to enjoy classic pre-war living in one of Jackson Heights' most distinctive cooperatives.

Jackson Heights | Queens

Quick Profile

Jackson Heights has one of the most diverse populations in the city, and over 100 languages are spoken here. With this cultural diversity comes supporting restaurants, bars, shops and cultural opportunities. It is a mix of commercial and residential properties. There is a wide range of shops and service businesses, so that anything you would need, from a barber, to a pharmacy, to clothing, and food is available right in the neighborhood, no matter which culture or language you might need these services provided in.

Jackson Heights has three nicknames, based on micro-neighborhoods with the neighborhood as a whole. Little India occupies an area on 74th Street, while parts of 73rd Street are known as Little Pakistan. Little Columbia is along 37th Avenue.

A large portion of Jackson Heights has been designated as an historic district, from Roosevelt Avenue to Northern Boulevard, between the east side of 76th Street to the west side of 88th Street.

Jackson Heights was a planned community, where the first “garden apartments” were created in buildings constructed around central gardens and green spaces that gave neighbors a place to meet and socialize with one another, created places for children to play, allowing light to come into the apartments and air to flow freely through them. These gardens are private and only residents have access to them. Passing by the buildings, you might not even guess the gardens were there, as they are not generally visible from the street.

Additionally, there are some mid-rise apartment buildings. Some of these are rentals, some are co-ops, and some are condos. There are a few attached row houses that provide housing for one to three families.

As much as Jackson Heights might be full of noise and mix of cultures, it also has a quieter side, where the various cultures mix and mingle and learn about each other against a backdrop of beautiful architecture and a culinary landscape that brings the world to Queens.
