Originally built in 2008, 128 West 111th Street is a loft-style condominium building that features three units that are large enough for generous and comfortable living. This listing is for the building’s Unit #3. This unit is a huge 1851 square foot modern two-bedroom two bath beauty.

128 West 111th Street features loft style architecture with exquisite detail. This detail includes direct private elevator access to every unit (key access), rooftop park views (exclusive rights can be purchased at extra cost), one block from Central Park, one block from public transit, one block from the newly renovated 110th Street playground, and close proximity to Lasker Skating Rink. One can also walk to all access points and still be in Times Square in 25 minutes. The location is AAA. With most Harlem two-bedroom apartments less then 1000 square feet, this unit is a dream at approximately 1851 square feet (not including the common roof terrace).

Unit #3 is a triplex 2 bedroom / 2 bath floor-plan with an over-sized living room that features a gas fireplace, high ceilings, gorgeous bay windows, N/S/W exposures, and Brazilian hardwood floors. The kitchen boasts a high design feel with custom cabinets, large full size refrigerator (36 inch), top of the line appliances, concrete countertops, and an eat in kitchen design that allows one to eat indoors, or out. The kitchen even has an espresso/cappuccino maker. The kitchen also has a center island for countertop serving. On the lower level of the triplex, the unit boasts a full size washer/dryer, full bedroom and bath, and an open feel with outdoor space. The bathrooms have custom concrete vanities, kohler shower locker, tiled flooring, and recessed medicine cabinets. On the upper triplex level, the unit has a full master bedroom. High ceilings allow the building to flood the apartment with natural light. Tons of closet space everywhere. This unit also has Central Air conditioning. The building also boasts low common charges and taxes without an abatement.

This apartment is a generous space that will be a comfortable home. With easy access one can embrace quiet enjoyment on a tree lined block that has a great sense of community.

Harlem | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The neighborhood called West Harlem by the locals is known as Manhattanville to neighborhood newcomers. The area is culturally diverse and might be considered a microcosm of the city as a whole.

Columbia University has recently expanded into the area, which is attracting student residents from all over the world. Together with students from the City College of New York and young professionals fleeing higher prices in other neighborhoods, this influx of younger residents has brought with it more restaurants and bars on W 125th Street to serve this clientele. There are also new ventures, like a rock-climbing gym, to cater to the interests of these students and young professionals. At the same time, there are many small, family-owned shops and restaurants that have been anchors of the neighborhood for multiple generations.

The area has been through a housing upgrade, as older properties have been renovated and abandoned properties have been razed to make room for new development. There are still reasonably priced apartments available. Young professionals are finding that there is a certain cachet to living in West Harlem. It provides a convenient commute to the city and all of its amenities, while providing a sense of escape at the end of a long work day.

While rentals are popular with the student population, the young professionals are delighted to find pre-war brownstones, pre-war co-ops (including some income-capped HDFCs for lower- and middle-income buyers), and post-war condos that they can afford, although prices are rising. Some new low-rise developments, sporting virtual doormen and desired amenities, are cropping up.
