Property Description for 212 East 47th Street, 31-J

212 E 47th Street is a converted high rise luxury building in Midtown Manhattan. This sun-drenched South-West facing one bedroom is a one of a kind apartment with a close-up view of the Chrysler tower. The architect/owner did a complete custom renovation, with the highest level of finishes and amenities. The apartment boasts grey limestone slab floors throughout, which enhances the luminosity of the apartment. All the old doors were replaced with solid 8'-0 tall doors, with polished stainless hinges and pulls. The kitchen is brand new and is finished in a light blond tabu' wood veneer. The backsplash is Calcatta marble; the counter is quartzite. There is under cabinet lighting, and a custom light fixture in the ceiling. The kitchen also features a fully integrated Miele dishwasher, fridge and hood, a gas range by Smeg, a Dornbracht pull-out spray faucet and fixtures, a Kohler sink with garburetor, and a GE microwave. The bathroom, like the kitchen, has a large operable window. It is covered (walls and floors) in mosaic Calcatta marble tile. The vanity is custom-made and features white lacquer and an L-shaped quartzite vanity top. The faucet is Dornbracht; sink is Kohler. The medicine cabinet is by Robern, and is tri-partite and features an in-cabinet electrical outlet. The light above the vanity is custom made. The toilet is a new ecological dual-flush from Kohler: the Saile. The tub is a Tea for Two by Kohler, with all fittings by Dornbracht. The shower controls are thermostatic, and there is a separate hand-held shower. The bedroom has custom built-in closet shelving, as do all of the closets in the apartment. There is a walnut wall in the bedroom that separates it from the Living Room. The heating/cooling units in both the Living Room and the Bedroom are both brand new and upgraded to electronic controls. The console covers are also new (metal). The shades in these rooms are custom and roll bottom-up to maintain views of the Chrysler building, while providing privacy. Dimming light switches are in the Dining Room, Bedroom, and Living Room. Building amenities include a beautiful atrium lobby with landscaped entry plaza, a 24-hour concierge, a large landscaped rooftop deck, a fitness center with a yoga studio designed by La Palestra, a media lounge, and an on-site parking garage. Enjoy the Turtle Bay neighborhood with it.

Turtle Bay | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Turtle Bay is best known for hosting the world’s dignitaries at United Nations once a year as the world institution sits on the eastern edge of the neighborhood along the East River.

But this midtown location offers a lot more, a bustling neighborhood teeming with high-rise apartment buildings and an easy walk to the Midtown business district.

Over the past two decades, developers have assembled almost every corner development site along Second Avenue and have built straight up. Not much left to assemble.

Some of the more glamorous, and of course most expensive, addresses are in close proximity to the United Nations. Trump World Tower, which caused a big stir with area residents, in particular, Walter Cronkite, when it was built sits just north of the United Nations Grounds.

In contrast to the proliferation of the residential highrise, Turtle Bay does have some lovely tree-lined streets between the avenues. In particular, Turtle Bay Gardens, which fronts both 48th Street and 49th Street between Third and Second Avenue has always been a haven for the rich and famous.
