Property Description for 255 East 49th Street, 25-DE

FINALLY VACANT! TENANTS JUST MOVED! Don't miss this one-of-a-kind, true home in the City. Beautifully renovated and unique, this 2,228 sq. ft. apartment was created by combining two apartments and runs east to west across the full southern face of the building, affording panoramic views of the iconic Chrysler Building, the United Nations and the River. It is currently rendered as three bedrooms and a den (or fourth bedroom), with three full baths, plus a home office, laundry room and two balconies. This is the first time this apartment has ever been offered for sale! One enters the apartment into a gracious central foyer with polished grey slate floors. Proceeding to the left, you enter the corner living and dining room facing east and south, further enhanced by a 117 sq. ft. wrap balcony, and surrounded by spectacular City and River views. The living room currently opens into a library/den expanding the living/entertaining space to the west and affording expanded southern views and light. This space could also be used as a fourth bedroom if needed and could be accessed off of the foyer. Moving back to the foyer, you can proceed into the spacious eastern-facing windowed kitchen with black granite counter tops and top-of-the-line stainless steel appliances, including a SubZero refrigerator, Bosch dishwasher, Miele stove, a separate oven and wine cooler. The kitchen can be opened or a pass through can be created if one desires. From the foyer, you can also access a bedroom facing east with an en-suite bath. On the opposite side of the foyer proceeding to the west, you enter a hallway which immediately brings you to a lovely southern-facing bedroom to the left and a beautifully appointed black and white tiled full bath across the hall. Proceeding further down the hall and turning south (left) you enter a very spacious corner master bedroom with generous closets and its own private 62 sq. ft. balcony, a stunning en-suite bathroom in grey slate with his and hers sinks, a separate tub and a stall shower. Off of the bedroom hallway, there is also a home office with a western window and a separate laundry room with a Miele washer and dryer and service entrance. The space of the apartment is exceptional and is also very versatile and can be tailored to suit a variety of requirements. PLEASE NOTE: This apartment is a combination of the 1,234 sq. ft. D apartment, a two bedroom, two bath, and the 994 sq. ft. E apartment, a convertible two bedroom, two bath. As modified, Apt. 25DE currently has three baths but a fourth could easily be reinstated. Sterling Plaza is a pristine full-service condominium in the heart of Manhattan convenient to the best restaurants, shopping and all transportation. There is common storage and bicycle storage available in the building if needed. It is pet friendly.

Turtle Bay | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Turtle Bay is best known for hosting the world’s dignitaries at United Nations once a year as the world institution sits on the eastern edge of the neighborhood along the East River.

But this midtown location offers a lot more, a bustling neighborhood teeming with high-rise apartment buildings and an easy walk to the Midtown business district.

Over the past two decades, developers have assembled almost every corner development site along Second Avenue and have built straight up. Not much left to assemble.

Some of the more glamorous, and of course most expensive, addresses are in close proximity to the United Nations. Trump World Tower, which caused a big stir with area residents, in particular, Walter Cronkite, when it was built sits just north of the United Nations Grounds.

In contrast to the proliferation of the residential highrise, Turtle Bay does have some lovely tree-lined streets between the avenues. In particular, Turtle Bay Gardens, which fronts both 48th Street and 49th Street between Third and Second Avenue has always been a haven for the rich and famous.
