Property Description for 240 East 47th Street, 2-CD

Residence 2CD is extravagant, glamorous and above all unique. This coveted crescent-shaped horizontal mansion spans the northeast quadrant of the iconic Dag Hammarskjöld tower, with all-embracing views of Dag Hammarskjöld Plaza and the Katherine Hepburn Garden. Touring this palace is only done justice in-person and cannot truly be experienced over the internet. From its celestial elevated plain, this regal urban manor has the feel of a Frank Lloyd Wright Usonian design - majestically hovering 30 feet up in the sky. The contiguous glass-fence of windows provides an observation deck-like feel. It is easy to get lost transversing this gargantuan 3,025 square foot floor plate. If necessary, leave a trail of bread crumbs to avoid getting lost when you pass-through for the first time. A world-class, white glove building at a globally-known address, exemplifying utopian harmony of human habitation and the environment. This renowned diplomatic and consular setting mirrors the peaceful nature synonymous with the great statesman Dag Hammarskjöld. Unmistakably, this building is inclusive to all - Investor Friendly, Pets Allowed, Corporate Ownership Allowed and of course Diplomats welcome. The location offers strollability like no other. Obvious close by destinations are the United Nations Headquarters and Grand Central Terminal. Where else on a leisurely walk can you pass classic New York delicatessens, supermarkets, libraries, a YMCA, the consulates of countries from across the globe, world-class hotels and numerous prime coffee stations that aren't Starbucks. This is where the legends of New York's foodie world live, Sparks Steak House, The Palm, MIFUNE, Pietro's, Aretsky's Patroon and Smith & Wollensky. Further in the distance awaits Wolfgang's, which is adjacent to dueling newcomers The Lobster Club and The Grill.Naturally, a kitchen larger than most studio apartments is in the heart of the residence. The designed infusion of 2 kitchens into 1 is a sight to see. Stocked with 2 Sub-Zero refrigerators and 2 ovens - you feel as if you are on the set of a competitive cooking show like Iron Chef. There is plenty of living space with the current 4 bedroom design, accompanied with 3 bathrooms ensconced in marble and an easy-in, easy-out powder room for guests. In these retreats you will find furnished towel warmers, heated lighting, an air jet tub and a steam room with shower. The present layout offers additional privacy space with a library and a home office. The arrangement can be reconfigured with the addition of a 5th bedroom including an ensuite bathroom. There is also a laundry room that is comparable in size to an average home office.Balanced-life provided amenities are themed alike to the famous meditation room that Secretary-General Hammarskjöld oversaw every detail of in 1957. A year-round indoor swimming pool is located on the 43rd floor - flanked by a health club featuring steam and sauna rooms. Awaiting is a private garden that will take your mind far away from Manhattan. Additionally, there is a penthouse sky lounge, children's playroom and for suarees and meetings there is a function room.Dag Hammarskjöld Tower is staffed with a full-time door manager, concierge, live-in building superintendent, handyman and porters. Equipped with an on-site garage, storage, bicycle room and an industrial-strength laundry room.Traveling to and from could not be easier. A short distance away is the nexus of the travel universe, Grand Central Terminal. The 34th Street helipad is within close proximity as well as the 23rd Street seaplane base. There are taxis and private car service abound. Rideshare vehicles are always swarming, your driver will be in position and waiting as you depart the elevator. It takes minutes to get from the building to FDR Drive, which makes for quick commutes to all of the area's airports. Please note apartment 2E is also available for sale and a floorplan rendering is available with the apartment photos.

Turtle Bay | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Turtle Bay is best known for hosting the world’s dignitaries at United Nations once a year as the world institution sits on the eastern edge of the neighborhood along the East River.

But this midtown location offers a lot more, a bustling neighborhood teeming with high-rise apartment buildings and an easy walk to the Midtown business district.

Over the past two decades, developers have assembled almost every corner development site along Second Avenue and have built straight up. Not much left to assemble.

Some of the more glamorous, and of course most expensive, addresses are in close proximity to the United Nations. Trump World Tower, which caused a big stir with area residents, in particular, Walter Cronkite, when it was built sits just north of the United Nations Grounds.

In contrast to the proliferation of the residential highrise, Turtle Bay does have some lovely tree-lined streets between the avenues. In particular, Turtle Bay Gardens, which fronts both 48th Street and 49th Street between Third and Second Avenue has always been a haven for the rich and famous.
