Property Description for 342 East 53rd Street, 2-E

GARDEN-VIEW GRANDNESS UPGRADED MID-CENTURY MAGNIFICENCE SUN-SPLASHED JUMBO HOME w/LOFTY LIVING/DINING PIED AUX TERRES, CO-PURCHASES, GIFTING, GUARANTORS & GENEROUS SUBLETTING PERMITTED ON CASE-BY-CASE BASIS You feel it the second you enter this upgraded, jumbo residence. You just know — it feels right — it feels good — it feels like home. But what is it? Is it the big, South-facing, sunshiny windows overlooking the well-run building’s peaceful planted backyard garden? Is it the lofted living/dining room that offers ample room to stretch out and live your best life in an upgraded, winsome home? Is it the office area, the exercise space, the great closets (including a big walk-in)? Is it the big handsome kitchen with ample cabinets and stone counters — a well-designed cook’s dream space with stainless steel appliances (5-burner gas range, dishwasher, refrigerator with filtered water/ice maker) and a wine rack? Is it the sweet, tranquil bedroom — mindfully set apart from the living room — with exposed brick and a supreme wall of closets? Is it the sizable windowed bath with a pedestal sink and deep linen closet? Is it the potential ability to add a washer/dryer (with Board approval, of course)? Is it that pieds aux terres and generous subletting are welcome — as are gifting and guarantors and co-purchases — all on a case by case basis? Is it the super convenient location of its well run, pet-friendly building with renovated lobby, great new Super, gorgeous, planted, backyard garden, and bike and laundry rooms? Is it the easy proximity to transportation (E/M/6 trains), restaurants, gourmet and grocery stores (Whole Foods!), and more? It’s all of this — and you can have it all right here. Welcome home.

Turtle Bay | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Turtle Bay is best known for hosting the world’s dignitaries at United Nations once a year as the world institution sits on the eastern edge of the neighborhood along the East River.

But this midtown location offers a lot more, a bustling neighborhood teeming with high-rise apartment buildings and an easy walk to the Midtown business district.

Over the past two decades, developers have assembled almost every corner development site along Second Avenue and have built straight up. Not much left to assemble.

Some of the more glamorous, and of course most expensive, addresses are in close proximity to the United Nations. Trump World Tower, which caused a big stir with area residents, in particular, Walter Cronkite, when it was built sits just north of the United Nations Grounds.

In contrast to the proliferation of the residential highrise, Turtle Bay does have some lovely tree-lined streets between the avenues. In particular, Turtle Bay Gardens, which fronts both 48th Street and 49th Street between Third and Second Avenue has always been a haven for the rich and famous.
