Property Description for 211 East 53rd Street, 11-L

This one bedroom apartment faces north into a quiet courtyard of the Lipstick Building. A wide foyer opens into a spacious living room with track lighting and built-in storage shelves. Both the foyer and living room boast custom crown molding and dark wood floors throughout. The bedroom is large enough to fit a king-sized bed and 2 closets. The kitchen is one of a kind; granite counter tops and impressive floor-to-ceiling granite tiles blend effortlessly with the stainless-steel tiled ceiling, custom cabinets provide ample storage space, and the top-of-the-line appliances include a mounted microwave and a stainless steel Delonghi Chef1/2s stove and oven (no DW). The bathroom is lined with marble on the sink, walls, floors and ceiling, the shower has a large massage showerhead, and the deep soaking tub is finished with gracious hardware and enclosed in sliding glass doors. The Hawthorne is a full-service doorman building, live-in super, laundry, bike room and storage in the basement. Pets are also welcome, easy board approval. The sun deck on top of the 14-floor building has lounge chairs and gorgeous views of Midtown Manhattan. Notable amenities include a resident garage and hallways renovated in a pre-war style. The apartment is just a short walk away from Central Park and the fine stores that line Lexington, Madison, and Fifth Avenue. The E, M, and 6 and 2nd Avenue trains are all adjacent to the building. Turtle Bay | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Turtle Bay is best known for hosting the world’s dignitaries at United Nations once a year as the world institution sits on the eastern edge of the neighborhood along the East River.

But this midtown location offers a lot more, a bustling neighborhood teeming with high-rise apartment buildings and an easy walk to the Midtown business district.

Over the past two decades, developers have assembled almost every corner development site along Second Avenue and have built straight up. Not much left to assemble.

Some of the more glamorous, and of course most expensive, addresses are in close proximity to the United Nations. Trump World Tower, which caused a big stir with area residents, in particular, Walter Cronkite, when it was built sits just north of the United Nations Grounds.

In contrast to the proliferation of the residential highrise, Turtle Bay does have some lovely tree-lined streets between the avenues. In particular, Turtle Bay Gardens, which fronts both 48th Street and 49th Street between Third and Second Avenue has always been a haven for the rich and famous.
