Property Description for 351 East 50th Street, 3

Located in a renovated turn of the century elevator townhouse, this floor-through apartment offers exceptionally bright large spaces with 10-plus foot ceilings throughout. Positioned on the third floor with great views to street and back gardens.

Step off the keyed elevator into a well sized central foyer with a spacious closet and full bath. The winged layout provides for maximum privacy.

The sun-filled south wing has an open pass-through kitchen with plenty of counter space and abundant storage. Look at the trees as you cook at the island or chat with those seated at the large breakfast bar or in the Great Room beyond. The Great Room has loft-like proportions, soaring ceilings, restored century old brick walls and a brick mantle fireplace which could be restored to wood burning. Throughout the day the space is bathed in sunlight from a large multi pane window and a tall wide bay window with S/E/W exposures. The light change throughout the day is of note. The space offers dedicated dining, living and library areas plus an option to create a windowed third bedroom or office.

The private and extremely quiet north bedroom wing has lovely garden views. The large N/E exposure en-suite master bedroom has a walk-in closet and space for a king-sized bed, reading nook and additional furniture. The second bedroom is extremely large with a wall of deep closets and access to the hall bathroom. A new central AC/Heat system guarantees your comfort is in all seasons. The unit has a full-sized stackable washer/dryer.

351 East 50th Street was built around 1900 and today stands as a 4- unit cooperative. The coop has recently redone all public areas and systems including the faade, entryway, elevator, hallways, roof and mechanicals. The coop has stellar financials and allows up to 80% financing.

Turtle Bay | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Turtle Bay is best known for hosting the world’s dignitaries at United Nations once a year as the world institution sits on the eastern edge of the neighborhood along the East River.

But this midtown location offers a lot more, a bustling neighborhood teeming with high-rise apartment buildings and an easy walk to the Midtown business district.

Over the past two decades, developers have assembled almost every corner development site along Second Avenue and have built straight up. Not much left to assemble.

Some of the more glamorous, and of course most expensive, addresses are in close proximity to the United Nations. Trump World Tower, which caused a big stir with area residents, in particular, Walter Cronkite, when it was built sits just north of the United Nations Grounds.

In contrast to the proliferation of the residential highrise, Turtle Bay does have some lovely tree-lined streets between the avenues. In particular, Turtle Bay Gardens, which fronts both 48th Street and 49th Street between Third and Second Avenue has always been a haven for the rich and famous.
