Property Description for 138 East 50th Street, PH-70

Introducing The Centrale Duplex Penthouse. This one of a kind 5,388 square foot duplex home includes five bedrooms, all with ensuite bathrooms; plus a powder room on the entertaining level. It is the pinnacle residence at The Centrale with stunning views and an abundance of natural light on all four exposures. This home is designed for entertaining as well as daily living.

The private elevator landing on the 70th floor opens to the homes' foyer which leads to the beautiful and well-proportioned entertaining spaces with 12-foot ceilings and oversized windows. The living room's primary exposure is north taking in expansive views to Central Park, the Reservoir and beyond to the George Washington Bridge, west to iconic landmarked buildings, and east to the 59th Street Bridge, the East River and NYC skyline. One takes in the Manhattan skyline and beyond from every vantage point.

The living room is defined on one side by a generously sized cornered dining room with north and west exposures and on the other side by a cornered library, with north and east exposures, and a marble gas fireplace. Both the dining room and the library can be closed off by pocket doors. Off the library is a powder room and beyond the powder room is an ensuite bedroom with east and south exposures which showcases the Chrysler Building as well as open south views toward One World Trade.

Well designed and equipped for the serious cook, the large windowed Eat in Kitchen with south and west exposures provides stunning light all day long and plenty of space. The chef's kitchen has an extra-large prep island and top of the line Gaggenau and Thermador appliances including a five-burner gas cooktop, warming drawer, steam oven, a full column refrigerator with a separate column freezer plus two additional refrigerator drawers, a full height wine refrigerator and two dishwashers.

The second floor is accessed by a sleek architectural staircase or private interior elevator and is home to the private quarters. The four bedrooms on this level have ensuite baths and ample closet space and three of the bedrooms are cornered rooms opening to spectacular views.

The sophisticated primary bedroom with a sitting area has over 31 feet of north views of Central Park and beyond has five large closets - two of them oversized walk-in closets. The grand windowed five fixture bathroom has Bianco Dolomiti radiant heated flooring underfoot, a private water closet, an oversized shower and a Victoria + Albert free-standing tub. A custom double vanity with white oak wood veneer millwork, and Marno Illusion countertops is completed with a built-in medicine cabinet, Kallista Sink and Dornbracht Fixtures.

The Centrale offers the luxury and convenience of a private Porte cochere and parking for purchase. The amenities are personalized with handmade artwork, distinctive marbles, natural stones, and dramatic light fixtures that come together to create an ethereal, intimate feel. The formal Great Room, Private Dining Room with Catering Kitchen, the Club Room, and an all-season Club Terrace are perfect for entertaining in any style. A state-of-the-art fitness center overlooks a 75' lap pool, while the yoga room offers a serene respite.

At 71 stories, The Centrale takes its place alongside Midtown Manhattan's most iconic buildings, encompassing a collection of 124 classic yet undeniably modern residences, envisioned by Champalimaud Design. The Centrale's exterior design by Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects, builds upon classic Art Deco architecture with contemporary elements thoughtfully displayed throughout, including the lightly reflective glass fa ade articulated with facets of terracotta chevrons. The Centrale reveals its base, body, and crown from street to the sky with crystalline switchbacks, creating a dynamic rhythm of angled reflections of the surrounding Midtown landscape.

Turtle Bay | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Turtle Bay is best known for hosting the world’s dignitaries at United Nations once a year as the world institution sits on the eastern edge of the neighborhood along the East River.

But this midtown location offers a lot more, a bustling neighborhood teeming with high-rise apartment buildings and an easy walk to the Midtown business district.

Over the past two decades, developers have assembled almost every corner development site along Second Avenue and have built straight up. Not much left to assemble.

Some of the more glamorous, and of course most expensive, addresses are in close proximity to the United Nations. Trump World Tower, which caused a big stir with area residents, in particular, Walter Cronkite, when it was built sits just north of the United Nations Grounds.

In contrast to the proliferation of the residential highrise, Turtle Bay does have some lovely tree-lined streets between the avenues. In particular, Turtle Bay Gardens, which fronts both 48th Street and 49th Street between Third and Second Avenue has always been a haven for the rich and famous.
