Property Description for 109 Seaman Ave, 1-G

STUNNING ONE-OF-A-KIND CONVERTIBLE 2 BEDROOM Architecturally unique for the neighborhood, this home is a true original, offering superior value and versatility of space. Rich in details from a bygone era such as 9’3” ceilings, wainscoting, vintage French doors and hardwood floors, this home is the perfect fusion of old-world charm with modern upgrades. The attention to detail in this complete restoration/renovation is beyond. From lead remediation to all new plumbing and electric to skim-coated walls and brand-new replacement moldings and window casings, this home oozes charm and quality. At the heart of the home is a most extraordinary kitchen where vintage, restored cabinetry houses your pretties and heat-resistant copper walls add gorgeous patina. Under cabinet lights with hidden electrical outlets, a new stove/convection oven, old-school double porcelain sinks, and an over-sized window framed with egg and dart molding round out this welcoming picture. The bathroom is also something to behold. Accented by an exposed brick wall and classic white subway tiles, the restored, original claw-foot tub with Strom British Telephone shower faucet takes center stage. The early 1900’s door was converted to a pocket door, maximizing space while the window is encased with naturally waterproof Brazilian Ipe hardwood…. gorgeous and practical. The versatility of this home is special. If entertaining is your passion, do it in style in your formal dining room and then retire to the living room for late night conversation. If you need 2 proper bedrooms, the living room is generous enough for both living and dining. Whatever your lifestyle, this home fits the bill. The double bonus here: NO NEIGHBOR BENEATH you and W/D allowed in the unit! Conveniently situated in a well-run, pet-friendly co-op in Inwood. This building offers very LOW maintenance, private storage, bike storage, resident super, FIOS and central laundry. 109-117 Seaman is helping the environment and residents alike with the installation of solar panels on the roof! And this is now a NON smoking building. You will love living close to some of Manhattan’s most glorious parks: Fort Tryon, Isham and Inwood Hill, which is literally out your front door. Explore beautiful Muscota Marsh, an extensive wetland restoration that reintroduces salt marsh and freshwater zones containing a diverse palette of native plants. This lush park also offers hiking trails, running paths, ball fields, tennis courts, dog runs, kayaking and plenty of green space for picnics, relaxing, enjoying free outdoor summer concerts or evening yoga. Enjoy the nearby Saturday Farmer’s Market, restaurants, wine bars, convenient shopping, the express A train to Columbus Circle and easy access to the Metro North Railroad and all major metropolitan roadways. Residents of the community also have access to Columbia University's Lawrence A. Wien Stadium track and can purchase memberships at the Dick Savitt Tennis Center without sponsorship by current members. Discover why savvy New Yorkers gravitate to this vibrant neighborhood in Upper Manhattan. Inwood is charming, affordable, full of energy and surrounded by nature. Home matters; why settle?

Inwood | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Inwood isn’t at all like those trendy acronymed neighborhoods further downtown and it doesn’t quite have a notable claim to fame but there is something especially charming about this predominantly Dominican neighborhood. It’s family-oriented with mom and pop shops, hookah bars, sports facilities, recreational venues and ethhnic eateries.

Inwood is the northernmost neighborhood of Manhattan. Any further north and you’ll be in the Bronx. It’s bounded by The Harlem River, which snakes around to its east and north side, The Hudson River and Inwood Hill Park to the west, and Fort George, an enclave of Washington Heights, to the south.

Rivers, hills and green spaces surround the neighborhood and the building height restrictions give it a suburban feel even though it's still part of the borough of Manhattan. Inwood, it’s the best of both worlds.
