Property Description for 211 East 53rd Street, 9-D

Introducing apartment 9D at the Hawthorne - a sprawling, newly renovated, 2-bedroom home (convertible to 3) with 3 sunny exposures - a true unicorn in one of Midtown East's favorite CONDOPs. The extra-long entry foyer is lined with mindblowing closet space - which is just a taste of what's to come in the rest of the home. The living space generously allows for two separate seating areas which are facing south and flooded with sunshine, as is the unusually spacious dining room, which at 8x10.5 offers itself to convenient conversion to an ample 3rd bedroom or office (see alternate floorplan). The centerpiece of the almost loftlike great room is the newly renovated open kitchen with a wraparound bar counter of stunning veined caeserstone quartz, glazed porcelain floors, stainless LG appliances, and copious amounts of sleek cabinetry serving both the kitchen and dining space. Down the hall in the nicely separated bedroom wing is the King-sized primary bedroom with TWO exposures North and East, TWO closets, and an en suite bathroom with a large stall shower, Kohler fixtures, Restoration Hardware vanity and cozy creamy quartz tiles. The second bedroom can also accommodate a king-sized bed (and a peloton as you can see). It has two windows and two closets of its own. In the bedroom hallway, there is yet another closet, and another full bathroom, elegantly renovated with a shower/tub combo, RH vanity, and sparkling subway-style tiles from floor to ceiling. The Hawthorne condop is a dream in convenience from E, M, 6 subway proximity to no board interview required and unlimited subletting permitted immediately. It is a pet-friendly, full-service building with a 24-hour doorman, live-in super, storage, laundry room, a gorgeous landscaped roof deck, and parking in the building. Please note, a W/D is not permitted in the unit. Open house by appointment only. We look forward to showing you.

Turtle Bay | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Turtle Bay is best known for hosting the world’s dignitaries at United Nations once a year as the world institution sits on the eastern edge of the neighborhood along the East River.

But this midtown location offers a lot more, a bustling neighborhood teeming with high-rise apartment buildings and an easy walk to the Midtown business district.

Over the past two decades, developers have assembled almost every corner development site along Second Avenue and have built straight up. Not much left to assemble.

Some of the more glamorous, and of course most expensive, addresses are in close proximity to the United Nations. Trump World Tower, which caused a big stir with area residents, in particular, Walter Cronkite, when it was built sits just north of the United Nations Grounds.

In contrast to the proliferation of the residential highrise, Turtle Bay does have some lovely tree-lined streets between the avenues. In particular, Turtle Bay Gardens, which fronts both 48th Street and 49th Street between Third and Second Avenue has always been a haven for the rich and famous.
