Property Description for 146 East 49th Street, 3-B

Paris in Manhattan - enjoy a quintessential Manhattan lifestyle in this beautiful, convertible two bedroom apartment (originally two bedrooms and converted to one bedroom), ideally located on a lovely and convenient block in the heart of Manhattan on East 49th Street between Lexington and Third Avenues. High ceilings, oversized windows, thick walls, well-run building, great live-in super. It was the glorious play of light and shadow as the sunlight danced among the leaves which grace the living room's windows that took the current owner's breath away. If you love beautiful architecture and large rooms this is your next home. Washer/Dryers and pets are allowed with Board approval. Cheerful central laundry room. Co-purchases and pied-a-terre's welcome. Unlimited subletting allowed after two years of ownership, with Board approval. This home is near everything you want - the theater, museums, great restaurants, great shopping, amazing hospitals, convenient subway stations, and Grand Central Station. Built in 1920, designed by Emery Roth and built by Bing & Bing (who later designed and built the Beresford, the San Remo, the MetLife Building and more), 146 East 49th Street is as beautiful today as it was the day it was born.

Turtle Bay | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Turtle Bay is best known for hosting the world’s dignitaries at United Nations once a year as the world institution sits on the eastern edge of the neighborhood along the East River.

But this midtown location offers a lot more, a bustling neighborhood teeming with high-rise apartment buildings and an easy walk to the Midtown business district.

Over the past two decades, developers have assembled almost every corner development site along Second Avenue and have built straight up. Not much left to assemble.

Some of the more glamorous, and of course most expensive, addresses are in close proximity to the United Nations. Trump World Tower, which caused a big stir with area residents, in particular, Walter Cronkite, when it was built sits just north of the United Nations Grounds.

In contrast to the proliferation of the residential highrise, Turtle Bay does have some lovely tree-lined streets between the avenues. In particular, Turtle Bay Gardens, which fronts both 48th Street and 49th Street between Third and Second Avenue has always been a haven for the rich and famous.
