Property Description for 138 East 50th Street, 22-A

Rare new development condo at The Centrale with unobstructed views. Be the first to live in.

This spacious residence, designed by Champalimaud, offers two bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms, and stunning northern exposures through the floor-to-ceiling windows. Upon entering you'll be greeted by white oak flooring which seamlessly flows into the open living and dining area. The chef's kitchen features honed Capri marble countertops, a stylish backsplash, and a waterfall island with seating. The kitchen's refined aesthetic is enhanced by streamlined custom white oak millwork, integrating a complete Gaggenau appliance package, including an undercounter wine refrigerator, complemented by elegant Dornbracht fixtures.

The primary bedroom boasts an expansive walk-in closet and a luxurious en-suite five-fixture bathroom. The serene primary bath offers radiant heated Bianco Dolomiti flooring, an enclosed shower, and a separate Kohler tub adorned with Marno Illusion marble details. The custom vanity, featuring white oak rift-cut wood veneer millwork and Marno Illusion countertops, is complemented by a built-in medicine cabinet, Kallista Sink, and Dornbracht fixtures. Additionally, a unique powder room showcases a strikingly veined Nero Maquina vanity countertop, an ebony stained oak quarter cut wood veneer vanity, and Nero Maquina floors. The eye-catching Cobalt Flash marble wet wall, along with Dornbracht fixtures and a Kohler Corbelle toilet, creates a captivating contrast against the dark woods and stones. To add modern convenience, this elegant residence is equipped with a Nest Learning Thermostat and Bosch washer and dryer.

The grand amenity spaces at The Centrale are adorned with handmade artwork, distinctive marbles, natural stones, and striking light fixtures, culminating in an ethereal and intimate ambiance. Residents have the option to enter through a sheltered porte-cochere or a private residential lobby, both of which are attended to 24 hours a day. The formal Great Room, Private Dining Room with Catering Kitchen, the Club Room, and the all-season Club Terrace offer the perfect setting for entertaining guests in various styles. Overlooking a 75' lap pool, the state-of-the-art fitness center provides breathtaking views, while the yoga room offers a serene escape.

At a remarkable 71 stories, The Centrale stands tall among Midtown Manhattan's iconic buildings, housing a collection of 124 classic yet undeniably modern residences envisioned by Champalimaud Design. The exterior design, crafted by Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects, blends classic Art Deco architecture with contemporary elements. The lightly reflective glass fa ade, adorned with terracotta chevrons, creates an elegant aesthetic. With its crystalline switchbacks, the building's base, body, and crown offer a dynamic interplay of angled reflections that beautifully showcase the surrounding Midtown landscape.

Turtle Bay | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Turtle Bay is best known for hosting the world’s dignitaries at United Nations once a year as the world institution sits on the eastern edge of the neighborhood along the East River.

But this midtown location offers a lot more, a bustling neighborhood teeming with high-rise apartment buildings and an easy walk to the Midtown business district.

Over the past two decades, developers have assembled almost every corner development site along Second Avenue and have built straight up. Not much left to assemble.

Some of the more glamorous, and of course most expensive, addresses are in close proximity to the United Nations. Trump World Tower, which caused a big stir with area residents, in particular, Walter Cronkite, when it was built sits just north of the United Nations Grounds.

In contrast to the proliferation of the residential highrise, Turtle Bay does have some lovely tree-lined streets between the avenues. In particular, Turtle Bay Gardens, which fronts both 48th Street and 49th Street between Third and Second Avenue has always been a haven for the rich and famous.
