Property Description for 209 East 56th Street, 11-PQR

MASSIVE PRIVATE TERRACE

This elegantly renovated three bedroom/convertible four bedroom, four bathroom home is HUGE and is highlighted by a magnificent 650sf+ terrace. The current owner spent over a year renovating this home - no detail was overlooked in this meticulous transformation of three apartments, thoughtfully designed into a sensational, modern living space.

At the heart of the home, you find a true chef's windowed open-concept kitchen with stainless steel, top-of-the line appliances - a Wolf range and hood which vents to the outside, a Viking double refrigerator, Miele dishwasher, warming oven, granite countertops, custom Maple cabinetry and exceptional storage. The sunny south facing living and dining rooms total over 36 feet in length of glorious entertaining space, leading to the enormous private terrace, outfitted with an automated irrigation system and lighting.

The bedroom wing, comprised of three bedrooms, has custom milled solid 6" wide plank wedge floors. The primary bedroom suite is truly luxurious and includes a cavernous dressing room, completely outfitted with custom shelving and cabinetry. The spa-like en-suite primary bathroom has a double 40" Catalano sink, Italian porcelain tile, a two person shower and steam room with bench and an electronically controlled Kohler system of 20 shower heads and body sprays. The two additional bedrooms are also generous in size and have peaceful and sunny North exposures.

State of the art technology is featured throughout this sophisticated home, which is fully Cat 5 wired for a multi-zoned, fully integrated Crestron smart home system. There are touchpads in every room to control music, TV's, lighting, electronic solar/blackout shades and air conditioners. Speakers are built-in throughout, providing top quality sound in every room including the primary dressing room, steam room and terrace. There is also an integrated 700 bottle temperature controlled custom wine cellar plus a washer/dryer.

This immaculate apartment was designed such that a fourth bedroom with en-suite bathroom and walk-in closet could easily be restored with the addition of one wall (see alternate floorplan).

The Sterling is a full service co-operative built in 1959 and has a full-time Doorman, live-in Super and a lovely South facing roof deck. The location is incredibly convenient, only a few blocks from major subway lines, world-class shopping and top notch restaurants.

Turtle Bay | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Turtle Bay is best known for hosting the world’s dignitaries at United Nations once a year as the world institution sits on the eastern edge of the neighborhood along the East River.

But this midtown location offers a lot more, a bustling neighborhood teeming with high-rise apartment buildings and an easy walk to the Midtown business district.

Over the past two decades, developers have assembled almost every corner development site along Second Avenue and have built straight up. Not much left to assemble.

Some of the more glamorous, and of course most expensive, addresses are in close proximity to the United Nations. Trump World Tower, which caused a big stir with area residents, in particular, Walter Cronkite, when it was built sits just north of the United Nations Grounds.

In contrast to the proliferation of the residential highrise, Turtle Bay does have some lovely tree-lined streets between the avenues. In particular, Turtle Bay Gardens, which fronts both 48th Street and 49th Street between Third and Second Avenue has always been a haven for the rich and famous.
