Property Description for 3015 Riverdale Ave, 5-J

This is a real two bedroom with a two bathroom apartment. It is large, open, sunny, renovated and quiet. This lovely apartment is located in a prewar building designed by the architect, Horace Ginsbern that designed the first Art Deco building in the Bronx. The building is setback with a entry pathway that leads to the building. The apartment has been renovated, while maintaining the original prewar details such as: entry foyer, high ceilings, arches, setback shelf, floor to ceiling closets throughout, basket weave wood floors and windows in each room.

The large windowed eat-in-kitchen has been renovated. It has ample cabinet, counter and storage. The highlight of this apartment is that the full washer/dryer has been "grandfathered"in. The dining area is adjacent to the kitchen. There is a Grand arch that you pass through to enter the quite spacious living room. It is sunny with south east exposure and open city views. It has a split-bedroom design, as the primary bedroom is on the other side of the apartment. This apartment is oversized with bathroom ensuite, double floor to ceiling closets and double windows. The 2nd bedroom is sunny and it too as open views. There is a windowed elegant black and white bathroom in the hallway.

The architects of this period were famous for their setback terraces. Seasonal Rose trellis's adorn the front of the building. The entry path has Italian hand laid bricks with a center garden with seasonal flora, plants and trees. At the end of the walkway is a Zen fountain on a hill with flora. The entrance to the building was renovated a few years ago and it has an intercom. The original windowed stone Art Deco lobby has stone floors and a staircase that ascends to the top floor with the original wooden handrail. The mail room has new mailboxes. The building has a wonderful live-in-super and a live-in assistant, individual storage (outside vendor) and a service entrance. Heat and hot water is included in the maintenance, which is one of lowest maintenances in the Riverdale area. Sorry DOGS are no longer allowed. CATS are welcome.

The bus stops for the Jitney to the Metro North, MTA local and express buses are across the street. The #1 subway is three blocks east of the avenue. Ewen Park (adjacent to bldg) best known for sledding when it snows. You are a short distance to the Riverdale, Johnson and Broadway shopping, trendy, ethnic, fast food restaurants, Starbucks, gyms, Riverdale Spa and Tennis. There is out door garage parking across the street and indoor around the corner on 231st, Manhattan College, Riverdale Country, Ethical Culture, Horace Mann, Fieldston are within a five minute drive by car or bus. JFK H.S. and the International H.S. Charter School are within a two block radius.

Riverdale | Bronx

Quick Profile

Searching for a little bit of country that can be your home base, while still being able to take advantage of everything that NYC offers? Do you want a slower pace of living, focused on family and the great outdoors? Riverdale may be your perfect choice. Only about ten miles north of Midtown, Riverdale’s bucolic paradise feels like you have left the city entirely. You would never guess that you are still within the confines of the Bronx.

Riverdale is primarily residential with a substantial number of single-family homes and corridors of high-rise apartments. There are many large parks, and they play a major role in the lives of the residents, as they are a primary source of entertainment. Clean, safe streets make Riverdale a great place to walk or cycle. There are trees everywhere, and the air is fresh and invigorating. It is a great place to raise a family, but more and more singles and young professionals are moving into Riverdale, in search of larger, less expensive apartments, and to enjoy the parks and the remarkable views of the Hudson River and Manhattan.

While the grid layout of the rest of the city makes it easy to find your way from here to there, Riverdale chose to forego that structure, choosing instead to let the verdant streets twist and wind their way around natural obstacles in designs by Frederick Law Olmsted, of Central Park fame. Some streets are divided, with traffic in one direction being at an entirely different level than traffic headed the opposite way on the same street. This quirkiness adds a certain charm to this neighborhood.
