Property Description for 680 West 204th Street, 4-F

TIMELESS ART DECO 2 BEDROOM TREASURE- Come home and settle into 4F - a serene retreat nestled near Upper Manhattan’s most cherished green spaces. 680 W 204th St is a beloved Art Deco building with period details- making you feel as if you’ve traveled back in time: herringbone wood floors with mahogany inlay, high ceilings, picture moldings, classic curved archways, and original built-in shelving with cupboard. The welcoming foyer - spacious enough for dining - leads you into the gracious living room with western facing windows, perfect for unwinding and entertaining. Large king-sized bedroom with ceiling fan has two custom closets with doors restored to wood finish and accented with glass doorknobs. Second bedroom with Eastern facing windows makes a lovely bedroom, office or space for guests. The renovated windowed kitchen will please the chef with plenty of storage - neutral colored tile flooring, built-in pantry and custom cabinetry featuring two panels of textured glass - a nod to Deco elegance. Grey and black granite countertops, Maytag gas stove, KitchenAid dishwasher, Whirlpool fridge and microwave. Bright and fully renovated windowed bath offers classic charm with modern details: white subway tiled walls trimmed with neutral marble molding and matching tiled floor, Kohler tub with rain shower head and additional handheld shower attachment, Deco period style fixtures, vanity and large mirrored medicine cabinet. 680 West 204 is a beautifully maintained Art Deco elevator cooperative designed by architect George C. Miller. Built Circa 1935, this grand building adorned with geometric parapets and decorative brickwork boasts an elegant, welcoming lobby with terrazzo floor and custom lighting which perfectly illuminates a hand-painted period mural. Residents enjoy a live-in Super, 24-hour central laundry (recently upgraded and app operated), bike room, storage units, new roof, new dual fuel burner and heating system upgrade to reduce carbon emissions, and a planted backyard courtyard with seating areas and grill! Pet friendly building. The location is truly in the heart of all that Inwood offers with abundant shopping & dining (Broadway, W 207th, Dyckman), transportation options and close proximity to the best parks in New York City including Inwood Hill Park (197 acres of walking/riding paths, athletic fields, playgrounds, dog runs and the newly renovated NYC Parks Dept Nature Center with environmental programming); Isham Park (20 acres of lush green areas for picnics and gathering), Fort Tryon Park (67 acres of stunning Hudson River and Palisades views, the world-renowned Cloisters Museum and the idyllic Heather Garden), and the Muscota Marsh. Other cherished attractions are the historic Dyckman Farmhouse Museum (right across the street), the weekly year-round Saturday farmer’s market on Isham, Buuni Coffee with monthly cultural events, and the glorious, newly built Inwood branch of NYPL. Well situated near transportation- the A train (express) and 1 train (local)- just 25 minutes to midtown! Also many buses and easy access to highways and Metro North. Come to Inwood, one of Manhattan’s best kept secrets. This is why folks move uptown! *There is a current assessment of $177.56/month.

Inwood | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Inwood isn’t at all like those trendy acronymed neighborhoods further downtown and it doesn’t quite have a notable claim to fame but there is something especially charming about this predominantly Dominican neighborhood. It’s family-oriented with mom and pop shops, hookah bars, sports facilities, recreational venues and ethhnic eateries.

Inwood is the northernmost neighborhood of Manhattan. Any further north and you’ll be in the Bronx. It’s bounded by The Harlem River, which snakes around to its east and north side, The Hudson River and Inwood Hill Park to the west, and Fort George, an enclave of Washington Heights, to the south.

Rivers, hills and green spaces surround the neighborhood and the building height restrictions give it a suburban feel even though it's still part of the borough of Manhattan. Inwood, it’s the best of both worlds.
