Property Description for 342 East 53rd Street, 6-GH

6GH is a combination 2BR/2Bath apartment with multiple exposures which make for an unusually bright and sun-filled home. The renovated chef's kitchen sports granite countertops, custom mahogany cabinetry and an oversized island with additional storage. All bathrooms are windowed, renovated, and the primary bath has been expanded generously to include dual vanity sinks and an oversized walk-in-shower stall. Custom millwork and closets appear throughout the unit, including a sizeable primary walk-in. The apartment is nicely perched just below the top floor and looks out onto treetops in all rooms, making for a serene oasis. Washer/dryer installation is permitted with Board approval.

345 East 53rd is a cooperative which was constructed in 1958 and boasts a renovated lobby and recently installed Butterfly video security system, as well as bike storage and live-in superintendent who brings packages to shareholder's door. With low monthly maintenance, this cooperative makes for an extremely competitive carry compared to neighboring buildings. Conveniently situated on a quiet tree-lined block, and in close proximity to Whole Foods, Bloomingdales, the United Nations, public transport and the fantastic dining options which make this pocket of Midtown East & Sutton Place so appealing.

Turtle Bay | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Turtle Bay is best known for hosting the world’s dignitaries at United Nations once a year as the world institution sits on the eastern edge of the neighborhood along the East River.

But this midtown location offers a lot more, a bustling neighborhood teeming with high-rise apartment buildings and an easy walk to the Midtown business district.

Over the past two decades, developers have assembled almost every corner development site along Second Avenue and have built straight up. Not much left to assemble.

Some of the more glamorous, and of course most expensive, addresses are in close proximity to the United Nations. Trump World Tower, which caused a big stir with area residents, in particular, Walter Cronkite, when it was built sits just north of the United Nations Grounds.

In contrast to the proliferation of the residential highrise, Turtle Bay does have some lovely tree-lined streets between the avenues. In particular, Turtle Bay Gardens, which fronts both 48th Street and 49th Street between Third and Second Avenue has always been a haven for the rich and famous.
