Property Description for 138 East 50th Street, 27-B

Perched high above the vibrant pulse of Midtown, Residence 27B at The Centrale offers a front-row seat to the architectural theater of the Manhattan skyline. Through expansive floor-to-ceiling windows, the northeastern views serve as a living backdrop to a home defined by light, height, and impeccable craftsmanship. Inside, the transition from the entry foyer to the open-concept living and dining area is seamless, anchored by wide-plank white oak flooring. The chef’s kitchen is a masterclass in minimalist luxury, featuring honed Capri marble countertops and a striking waterfall island. Behind custom white oak millwork, a suite of professional-grade Gaggenau appliances—including a dedicated wine refrigerator—is perfectly integrated, finished with the sculptural elegance of Dornbracht fixtures. The primary bathroom serves as a private sanctuary, clad in exquisite Marno Illusion stone and Bianco Dolomiti marble. Radiant heated flooring provides a gentle warmth underfoot, while a custom rift-cut wood vanity and Kallista sink offer a refined, spa-like experience. Modern essentials are thoughtfully included, from the two-zone Nest Learning Thermostat and in-home Bosch laundry to custom rolling shades and blackouts. Designed by the acclaimed Champalimaud Design, the amenities at The Centrale feel more like a private club than a residential building. Residents enjoy access to a formal Great Room, a Private Dining Room with a catering kitchen, and an all-season Club Terrace designed for year-round entertaining. The wellness floor features a state-of-the-art fitness center overlooking a dramatic 75-foot lap pool and a serene yoga studio. The building itself is a modern landmark by Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects, soaring 71 stories with a faceted glass and terracotta facade that pays homage to classic Art Deco glamour. With a sheltered porte-cochère and 24-hour attended lobbies, The Centrale offers an unparalleled level of service in the heart of the city, just moments from the premier boutiques of Fifth and Madison Avenues and Manhattan’s most celebrated dining destinations. Virtually staged.

Turtle Bay | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Turtle Bay is best known for hosting the world’s dignitaries at United Nations once a year as the world institution sits on the eastern edge of the neighborhood along the East River.

But this midtown location offers a lot more, a bustling neighborhood teeming with high-rise apartment buildings and an easy walk to the Midtown business district.

Over the past two decades, developers have assembled almost every corner development site along Second Avenue and have built straight up. Not much left to assemble.

Some of the more glamorous, and of course most expensive, addresses are in close proximity to the United Nations. Trump World Tower, which caused a big stir with area residents, in particular, Walter Cronkite, when it was built sits just north of the United Nations Grounds.

In contrast to the proliferation of the residential highrise, Turtle Bay does have some lovely tree-lined streets between the avenues. In particular, Turtle Bay Gardens, which fronts both 48th Street and 49th Street between Third and Second Avenue has always been a haven for the rich and famous.
