Property Description for 220 Schaefer Street, 1

Welcome to Unit 1 at 220 Schaefer Street, an expansive two-bedroom, two-bathroom duplex offering approximately 1,726 square feet of interior space and a private backyard, set within a newly completed boutique condominium on a quiet, tree-lined block in Bushwick. The main level is designed for comfortable everyday living and entertaining, with an open kitchen overlooking the living and dining areas. The kitchen features a large peninsula with seating for four, quartz countertops, two-tone cabinetry, stainless steel appliances, and matte black fixtures. The adjoining living room offers generous proportions and natural light, while a dedicated dining area provides plenty of space for hosting and everyday meals. Two bedrooms are privately positioned toward the rear of the residence, each with direct access to the private backyard. A full bathroom, dedicated laundry area, and multiple closets complete this level. The lower level dramatically expands the home’s living space with an exceptionally large, open bonus room that can easily accommodate multiple uses at once. Whether envisioned as a media lounge, home office, gym, playroom, guest area, or additional entertaining space, this flexible level offers an impressive amount of room to tailor the home to your lifestyle. The location puts residents close to Bushwick’s dynamic dining, coffee, and nightlife scene, with neighborhood favorites including Last Drop Coffee, SEY Coffee, Variety Coffee Roasters, Bunna Cafe, Mominette Bistro, Mood Ring, and La Cabra. Maria Hernandez Park and the murals of the Bushwick Collective add green space, recreation, and neighborhood culture nearby. Transportation is convenient, with the Wilson Avenue L station approximately 0.15 miles away, along with additional access to the L at Halsey Street and the J/Z at Chauncey Street. Completed in 2026, 220 Schaefer Street combines the privacy of a boutique condominium with spacious contemporary interiors and convenient access to the restaurants, cafés, nightlife, and creative energy that define Bushwick. Unit 1 is eligible for Fannie Mae financing, offering buyers additional flexibility when securing financing.

Bushwick | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

As one of the most diverse neighborhoods in New York, Bushwick offers a perfect snapshot of just how multicultural the city is. Long-established as an amalgam of cultures and ethnicities, a wave of varying types of immigrants trickled in from the seventeenth to twentieth centuries, with Bushwick largely becoming a home to Hispanics of Puerto Rican and Dominican backgrounds by the latter part of the twentieth century.

With the Bushwick Initiative of the mid-00s that aided in revitalization, it became an attractive area to young professionals and artists. And even now, Bushwick has sustained affordable rent prices where other North Brooklyn counterparts, like Williamsburg and Greenpoint, have become more expensive. Priding itself on the weird and the wacky, numerous art collectives thrive in this part of Brooklyn, once famously named the seventh coolest neighborhood in the world by Vogue.

Though it has drawn in many tourists in recent years (there’s even a graffiti tour you can take from the Bushwick Collective), the neighborhood remains very much community-oriented, and has not been subject to quite the same sort of corporate infiltration phenomenon of its nearby Williamsburg environs.

But yes, of course, Bushwick has come a very long way from its 80s and 90s reputation as being “The Well,” a nickname given to it for its free-flowing and widely available amount of drugs (quantity over quality being the cliche applied here).
